That is the first orchestral piece I head from you.  Excellent!

nice orchestration there in the beginning section....
mixing the two kits, yea, totally works...

i suppose this is how most arrangers do it, you just gotta have access to a LOT of libraries....
and know them well enough to know what to pull for what reasons....
nice job.

This sounds absolutely amazing James.  An incredibly dynamic piece.  I turned this up pretty loud and it filled the room (good job i don't have anyone living next door right now).

One of the best orchestral - based tracks i've ever heard on this forum.

The mix sounds fantastic.

Very well done.

Thanks John. The transfer really did not go over well to SC, so I might re-do it.

Very impressive, James, and, in one word: majestic.  That's the feeling I got from it... a very large, majestic sense of space and expansiveness.  Great mix of instruments and percussion.  Very well done.

hey James
as everything you do it is awesomely conceived. The tunes were well done, you got mostly the right balance between brass and strings.
only little nit,  i missed some woodwind in there to break it up a bit.
just listening on the laptop, but it cam across as a little narrow. this might be just on here though. will listen again on the main system on sunday

Thanks Mark. Actually there is a clarinet section, some flutes, oboes and bassoons in this.

I think it sounds terrific James.  I am interested in your process for composing this.  did you do it simultaneous with the recording or did you score it all out and then play it or something else?

Nah, I just start with some ideas and then flesh them all out. Then I wrote the secondary piece and threw it all together.

But usually it starts with some sort of string movement that inspires the rest of it. Which is why all my orchestral pieces have that element to them!
