Call me old school, but I just can't imagine myself ever buying anything called 'Fruity Loops' -  no matter how good it might be.

Makes me think of Twitter - and the subsequent quote about it  - "Real men would never 'tweet' ".

I'da know - just me I guess.

Don't mind me - just sayin'...

What was that Hon? - shut the 'f ' up already?

Right! - got it!

Done...............Hahaha

It hasn't been called "Fruity Loops" for many, many years! Here's a review of the latest release, if you're interested: http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/tech/image-line-fl-studio-12-624510

I have FL Studio too. I have had it when it was called Fruity Loops. It is a musician's sequencer. It is not a DAW. Though, these days the distinction is very blurred. It has more in common with a tracker then it does with Sonar. That is why so many Sonar users have it along side Sonar. I would say Reason is more like it or at least would appeal more to Reason users.

It has been transformed over the years and can do stuff that Sonar simply can't. But Sonar can do stuff FL Studio can't. Together they make a very potent combination.

They are not, in my view, in competition.

Perhaps someone there felt the need for just such a thing as a name change long ago - Lol.

I'll check it out. Sometimes that's actually all I need, although Cubase is quite the MIDI 'beast' in and of itself, which is the DAW I've been using for the last 2 years now.

Thanks for the link Susan & for the info John!

Is there anything you could quickly list about what FL can do that Sonar cannot? I'm curious.

It was a law suite that caused the name change.  Copyright infringement. I believe Fruity Loops was a cereal before it was a sequencer.

Right - 'Fruit Loops'.

My Mother refused to buy it.

Too much sugar, I guess.

How about stability?
The only DAW that seems to have the courage [or audacity] to boast the ultimate in stability vs. the other DAWs is Reaper.

So how does FL compare?
