With the likes of Addictive Keys and even TruePianos (Amber included in Sonar Platinum ... or discounted upgrade to 5 pianos) ... tone / mic placement can be altered.

Same with Pianoteq, giving you endless possibilities.

I have komplete ultimate 10. IMHO alicia keys is still the best from NI. Addictive keys is sweet but it does not have enough velocity layers. I still like ivory ii because it is dynamic and with some external eq and reverb it will shine.

True piano can be purchase at 20% off if you have splat. You will get 5 more pianos module where all of them sound better than the amber module in splat.

My favorite of all is pianoteg 5. It is the most expressive and dynamic of all.

I do feel that a piano vst will definately need a good reverb such as 2caudio's Aether.

Or use Overloud's VKFX.

I like the TruePianos.  I got the whole set and that was my go-to piano for a while.  Seriously, if you haven't checked out Hammersmith you owe it to yourself to at least have a listen.  It also has the best velocity mapper around.

I should have qualified my statement about NI pianos. I'm not familiar with the latest ones. I might like them better.

However, if you have Kontakt, try out OrangeTree Samples Evolution Rosewood Grand. It is phenomenal, and it has taken over as my go-to piano. It is a sampled Yamaha C7, and even though I had dismissed Yamaha and preferred Steinway for years, this one changed my mind.

Thanks for bringing them up.  I haven't checked OrangeTree out before.  I will be doing so soon.

Cheers

@Dranck, I am sure you would. The old pianos are no longer included in Komplete.
