Has anything happened? Has anyone had any contact? I'm getting kinda jazzed to see what we have in W10.

I came right to the Forum today. What I should have asked has anyone been contacted by MS about download or things pertaining to it. Will you be installing anything Larry or are you already there? How many cores do you have on your rig? Have you seen any diff how W10 handles multi cores. My quad is so much more stable on W8 and 8.1 than W7. I have been hoping there has been some more improvement from W8 to W10.

Please scan this forums for related threads before you post.
There seems to be zillions of windows 10 threads around right now.

Well, I've still got the never ending "update to windows 10" icon but it ain't automatically downloading anything or holding me at gunpoint.

The only computer I'd try to upgrade right off is this writing computer (not the music one) but it doesn't have a touchscreen.  I think I'll keep my main rig at Win 7 since it is working well.  Then I've got a nice all-in-one 8.1 I bought for live shows that I think I'll upgrade to 10.  I still haven't worked out the kinks for live work so why not experiment?  Now, to find the time.

Yes. The wave starts today. Am not able to get to my PC until Thursday, so I'll see what Cortana wants me to do with Splat. From what I've been reading Sonar should work seemlessly throughout since they now have the same service format. Perpetual updates with no final code. That helps with combatting piracy.
And combining the best with Windows 7 and 8 is genius.

My wife's computer is currently updating from 8.1 to 10.   I had clicked on the little W10 window on the task bar and a box popped up saying the update had already been downloaded. There was an option to go ahead and install.
Haven't gotten anything on my computer yet.

Once you click on the icon, it'll take you to the MS site where you choose to "Reserve an upgrade for me" (Or some words to that effect).  Afterwards, the icon disappears.

Of course, you are free to never upgrade to Win 10, but the above process should get rid of the icon.  At least, it did for me.

I've been on the Preview for months...and really like it....it's quite a good move....
has been EXTREMELY stable...no crashes whatsoever...none...not one...nothing...

EDIT:  not entirely true...one build 10159 crashed my C Drive and forced me to install everything...
but not sure if that was me or Win 10....but other then that..rock solid

Well, I thought I would try the reservation route but really wanted to get things going sooner. I was already signed up for the INSIDERS program running Windows 10 using VirtualBox on my MacBook Pro. I went to the insdier's site and was able to download the final version setup from there.
I did the upgrade to keep everything in place and things went very smoothly.

One thing to not is that the upgrade installation creates a Windows.old folder as well as the Windows 10 installation folders. You can run the Disk Cleanup program to free up a lot of space. I tried manually deleting them at first but they were protected by the System so using the App is the way to go.

So far so good.
