Looking for a good harmony generator to use in X2. Not looking to break the bank though!

Any suggestions?

Can't help you there Ludwig - I do it the old fashioned way of writing out my harmonies on a piano, then get my tame vocalist (wife) to sing the lines I've written.

I often use it in mixing to fatten up or enrich vox (like 5% in the mix), but right now I use some really archaic, non-intelligent stuff.  Thanks for the input so far!

Back in the 90's, I used to use a Digitech Midi Vocalist which generated up to 4/5 harmony parts automatically, but it was never really good enough to include in a song.

It was extremely useful for helping us work out the notes that actually fitted into a given chord structure, so it wasn't completely useless.

Just nearly.

Are not looking to break the bank or are you not looking to break out the wallet? Melodyne is pretty awesome for what you want to do (even the cheaper versions). http://www.fullcompass.com/product/410393.html?utm_source=googleps&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=googleps&gclid=COKXzan_irUCFY1DMgodbBAAHg I would research the different versions to make sure you can get what you need out of it. There are lots of useful videos on the Celemony website and Youtube. I have Melodyne Editor and find it pretty amazing.

You can get Melodyne Essential at Guitar Center for $39.99...then upgrade to Editor at Audio Deluxe for $189...

That's half the price of just buying Editor out of the gate...

I did some beta testing for  Zplane Vielklang 2 (I have an old version which I really don't use anymore).
But the testing was fun and the new product was a great improvement.
It will (with time and practice) produce something you could bury in a mix - but if you listen to it on its own it does not sound great.
All in all if you need harmonies this will work.

If I need a very high harmony that I can't sing, and none of my singing granddaughters are handy, I use V-Vocal to fake it.
