long time no post.

well a while anyhow. first track i've put on here for..over a year probably??

Extreme metal, purposefully in the Swedish blackened death idiom for those of you who care about such details.

This was recorded about 4 months ago, and I have remixed in X2, which I have to say has been marvellous - no crashes, love the pro-channel, yes i'm a fan...

anyhoo, comments are very appreciated, and i will get back onto the commenting front. thanks.

I don't usually listen to death metal etc. so it is always fun to hear some.  Been too long for you.  Sounds good to me.  I love the break constrast.  And the guitar after it very nice.

I did use to play death metal in NY when I drove a cab.  Switch between this and the religious station after 4 am picking up all the drunks on the weekend.  And look grim. ;-)

mgh, WOW, that was, well, uh, pretty In Vain, to say the least. Very different for me, as I'm sure you already know. You seemed to capture the title of the song quite well,, but is a bit to much  for my old ears. I tried thought.

Peace and blessings, John

The drums seem non existent in relationship to everything in the mix.  The guitars are too overpowering for my taste.  I feel as if the vocals and drums should be more upfront.

needs drums man.
good tune, nice guitar work, nice vocal, a little much distortion on the mix and drums are too low.
love the sound of the guitars, very powerful
with that comes a trade of though of blanking the rest of the mix.

I mix metal a lot and know how difficult and can be to squezze it all in the mix but overloading levels will cause distortion, not the good kind either :)

you have the basis for a mint tune.

Mark, a year?  I can't believe it's been that long since I listened to some "Swedish blackened Death" music!!  I can always count on waking up when I click on a MGH tune!  Great guitar work and your robodrummer is tireless.  The change at 3:28 threw me off!  You sly devil.  I love that "turbo Marshall" sound when it comes back in.  Glad you're back.

I believe this would benefit from just a little more blackness and death. And yes the drums could come out a bit more. You could always duck the bass a little with a compressor against the kick? And push the transients on the drums.

hey thanks to you all for listening! i appreciate this is well outside most of your comfort zones!
to answer some specific points, this has got a much better/solid bass and drum sound than the previous mix, but i really struggle with my top-heavy Behringer Truth's to get a solid bass end.
need to invest in a decent pair of headphones i think.
and the OTT guitars - well yes, there's no compression on them at all, it's just a LePou Legion cab run thru NI Guitar rig cabs...if you listen to similar bands (Dawn, DIssection, Sacramentum) you get the same guitar sound...just they had better producers!
cheers

Vintage outstanding guitar playing Mark!! Loved the song also. As for the mix, you know me and mixing I can't help much there.
Excellent!!

Great work Mark. Guitars sound fab here. Bass is fine. Drums could use some more energy, and the vocals definitely need to come up a bit. Other than that, nicely done my man.
