sounds great as is, keeping in with the genre.

That break really sets up a monstrous return.

Very melodic piece Mark, I think my favorite from you. Guitar performances were great, I liked all the tones, even though I'm not a fan of most growling, I really liked the vocals in the first part, a nicely developed melody there. Drums could come up a tad but the rest sounds spot on to me. Great job Mark

Hey, Mark,

Great song with a very cool intro and nice thick wall of guitars!

I love the ripping lead around the three minute mark, the quiet bridge was nicely done, and I really liked the tasteful return from it.

The mix sounds just right for the genre, but the drums are buried.  If I took all that time to program that monster drum track, I'd definitely push them up a few dB and beef them up with some low end.

Excellent work, Mark!

man, i love all the guitar tracks, the performances...
and i like the melody idea...
but the mix needs a bunch of work, eh?

this is dense.....
and the tracks are all well thought out.....
you gotta match the performance with the same level of mix.

you gotta define frequencies here with absolute extreme prejudice.

and carve frequencies specifically for getting everything to stand out in it's own spot.
and pay super close attention to your low end, from 200 hz down.

Good to see and hear you back, Mark.  Great return debut here with this dramatic piece overflowing with excellent guitar work.  I especially liked the transition and build that occurred between 4:00 and 4:30.  Nice work.

hey chaps
many thanks for listening. i forget until i check in what a fine body of men/women frequent here.
so, i have d/l to my ipod and listened again - yes the drums can come up a bit. grrr...really need new monitors i think. i don't want a superclean production, however, as that doesn't fit in with the music style. The compressed saturated sound is deliberate. however i need to glue it all together, and yes sort out the low end. hang fire....

Wow - that's big. Great playing - mix does need some work though. Tough for me to listen to vocals like that. For the genre - very good.

Hi Mark-

The song is coool. I like it a lot. The drums are still buried though. They need to express power. The vocal is coming through for the most part on my system. If you feel like spending the time, try finding the kick and the snare's key frequencies. For this genre, the kick needs a combination of ~80Hz and ~4kHz for the click of the beater. The snare needs to cut and be in your face. When you identify these freqs, try notching the guitars at a high/narrow Q and boosting the kick and snare at the same freq. This will allow the key freqs of the kick and snare to cut through the "holes" you create by notching.
