Call me cheeky if you will, but while I have a couple of originals percolating (but not really COOKING, if you know what I mean), I've done a Stevie Ray Vaughn cover. Yes, I know I'm not the same caliber guitarist Stevie was, and, no, I certainly don't have the proper right hand technique for a true Texas shuffle, so let's call it a Midwest/California shuffle, but nevertheless, here it is. On the other hand, I don't believe I've embarrassed myself either. I hope y'all like it.

The style? It's pretty wild because I'm familiar w/SRV's version, and this is great, but it's as different as the night from the day. I love the oooos and ahhhhs :-) 

You do have a strong Freddy vibe going here, and you nailed that lead for the genera brudda.

p.s., mix wise, I was going to have a lot more input but I listened again, with the ear buds pressed in a little tighter? And it brought the bottom out more. You're lead vox sound like they could be brightened/excited a bit more? I'm hearing a lot of mids/low mids, it could be the mic.  I would push them a little between 3-5K (whatever fits the recording best) and then maybe a high shelf around 8 or 9K But please, don't make a habit of taking mix advice from me! It could have unintended consequences :-)

Few artists deaths have had much if any affect on me, but I remember when I heard about the crash that killed SRV... my heart sank. It seemed unfair. There is no replacement for Vaughan. He was not cookie cutter on any level. He was on his own level. As Robby says, this is a very different version, but I like it. You and the gals sound great. Excellent job.

Dang that was fun mark - playing is nice - not like the original - but very creative. My only critique is the ride - to constant - kind of drives me a bit crazy. Well done.

Robby, I'm glad you liked it. But: Freddy King? Freddy J? Either way, I'll take the comparison as a complement. Actually, I had the lead vox a bit brighter initially, but it seemed too upfront, so I backed it off a bit. Above 4k is where my hearing drops off a bit.

Grant, great to hear from you. This song IS a ton of fun to play. The first verse of solo is mostly ripped off from Stevie, but I was winging it in the second verse.

this sounds like a blast to do Mark. the BV are excellent as is the playing, of course!
mix is really good but it sounds like it's been recorded with one mike and put on wax. now, this may be how the SRV version was done, and if so i apologise.
drums are a bit lifeless - in particular the hihat is annoying after a while - drummers don't play a steady eighth hihat and also hit other cymbals...

Mark -Well, it WAS recorded with one mic, I only have one decent mic. But drums were generated with Jammer Pro, who evidently doesn't understand about the hi hat in combination with cymbals. But I could probably bring down the hihat. That's right in the range I have trouble hearing (above 4k)and illustrates why I turn to my friends for feedback. Thanks.

This tune has a nice Retro Vibe to it  Yeah I get the Freddy King vibe .....
your tune sounds like if this was done live in a club , it would probably go over well ....w the back up singers ...and all 
the gtr sounds nice ....vox pretty good ...bass I had to listen hard ....it seemed low w a vey picky attack 
( late night so I'm listening at conversational levels on speakers ) 
it seems that the drums are a little wide on your sound stage ...the Hi Hat is totally far left to the point where it almost sounds like it's in a different room ...... all easy stuff to dial in ....
