So any older non-signed drivers we need to operate current equipment won't work?

"Enforcement only happens on fresh installations, with Secure Boot on, and only applies to new kernel mode drivers:"

So if you did an upgrade installation from a previous version in which the driver worked, it should still work. Or if you do not have or have disabled secure boot in UEFI it should still work.

This has been causing me tons of headaches on my personal/work machine (two users - not my DAW).

MS also keeps changing the default file extension mappings back to their crap-ware if you use an unsigned driver  (there are registry edits to prevent this which I just did yesterday).

That article explains the issue I saw with 1607, but seems to have more connotations than I initially suspected. Thank you for posting this.

Although win10 is the "last" or "final" version, we will see more of this in the future because they have to phase some features in and others out ... so while previously we had to stick with winXP or win7 if hardware was not supported in the higher OS, we will also see this with win10 ... but I'm afraid it may be at lot less transparent i.e. hidden in some policy change that no one reads until you fire up your DAW and find it not working anymore after the last update ...

EDIT: but this is just what our ever updating world has become. apps update on a daily basis, firmware several times a year ... if you depend on rock solid performance over hours e.g. for live situations, you end up only allowing your system to go online once in a while and then start again to test, test, test, ...

Wasn't sure what secure boot was so Goggled it and found the following:
