  • Convert soft-synth drum machine to audio

Hello! I feel like I'm missing something super obvious and this is a dumb question, but here goes:

I'm (trying) to use the Arturia Spark drum machine. I can push play in the plugin and hear the beat. It sometimes plays when I play back the rest of the project (I think it does that if I have already pressed play in the plugin). However, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get it to convert to audio during mixdown or bounce it to an audio track. I also can't figure out how to record any MIDI commands to its MIDI track (and what commands would it take?!).

If anybody has any insight into how to convert the drum loop to audio, I'd be much obliged. I don't work with a lot of MIDI, so assume I don't know anything....

There are a few ways to do it. "Bounce to tracks" being the most frequent used.
I go for a simpler approach and freeze the track.

Simply freeze the Midi track using the freeze icon.
Once it is frozen, drag the content (the audio) to a blank audio track.
Then you can unfreeze the original and still have it for future needs.

Once you freeze a track it is just like an audio track. A few things to be aware of is levels and Freeze options (if you right click on the freeze button).

Or simply select the track and go to Track options in the TV and select Bounce to tracks.
In the "bounce to tracks" dialog, select Tracks.

I'll try the freeze thing in a bit, but I know "Bounce to track(s)" doesn't work. There is no MIDI information to bounce . . . that's the part I don't understand. I can record a synth part (that has MIDI not values), but I don't know how to make the drum loop work other than hitting play in the plug in. It plays the beat, and I hit record, but there is no MIDI data recorded . . .

Okay, the Bounce to Track worked! I swear I tried that before with no luck . . .
Thanks!
