I think it's pretty rude to take somebody's comment and misquote it in this way. It is absolutely unacceptable. Please make your apology, quoting what I really said and your retraction in this thread. If not I will report the matter direct to Cakewalk admin. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Hi Mike

I won't presume to speak for Paulo, but I'm pretty certain that there was no intention of malice in his altered quote, and no attempt to deceive or mislead anyone by 'misquoting' your words.

The use of strike-out formatting is an oft-used and light-hearted method of introducing a little humour between Coffee House regulars. As the words themselves are not actually deleted from the post (although other words are occasionally added to suggest an alternative meaning to a post), this in-joke is meant only to suggest the misquoter might have actually phrased the targeted post or passage a little differently.

In some situations, it has been used to point out an absurdity or irony on the part of the original poster. In this case, however, I think your post was altered to draw attention to an opinion of Sonar, and not in any way as any maliciousness or disparagement against you personally.

As to reporting it if you still feel the need, I'd suggest that airing your grievance to a forum host might prove fruitless, as a few of them use this method of using strike-out as a comedic prop themselves.

When I read Mike's reply I was amused because it reminded me of when John made that (almost exact) statement in the SONAR forum.

Well, you shouldn't have thanked me in advance there fella, 'cos it's never going to happen. It was a light-hearted play on words/joke, not intended for anyone to take remotely seriously which I think most would consider the expected norm here in the CH, I even put the smileys on the end just to make super sure, but do whatever you like if it makes you feel better. The poster above you seems to appreciate it for what it is and Steve also has it right. I think I'll let his answer be mine as he puts it more tactfully than I would. Mine would probably be mostly reduced by the forum software to asterisk's and maybe some talk of removing sticks from bottoms and such. Obviously, I say that with all due respect.

Aww man, that's harsh. I mean, the guy's maybe gone and made a bit of a (insert noun of choice) of himself there, but likening him to the big J ? Ouch, that's gotta sting......

I'm almost feeling sorry for the guy now.....

(in case anyone missed that bit)
