Hey folks,

A few weeks ago, my motherboard died in my main PC. I had to replace it, reinstall 64 bit Windows 10 and all my software, including Cakewalk Command Center and Sonar Artist. Since then, I cannot get Sonar Artist to work. When I open it it crashes, saying "SONARART.EXE has stopped working". I have done a clean reinstall several times, updated drivers and Windows, still no luck. I have been without Sonar for 3 weeks, and need to get this fixed ASAP. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get functional again? Thank you.

Do a search for aud.ini and rename it to aud.old
Set sonarart.exe to always run as administrator.
then, press the SHIFT key while opening Sonar. This will open SONAR in "safe" mode (sans plugs). (This is intended to allow you to select plugs one by one to see which one(s) is/are causing issues.)
Initially I would open sonar without any plugs loaded, get your audio and midi interfaces set up, then do a complete reset and scan of your plugins.

Thanks, Brando! I actually got it to work this AM by downloading ASIO4All. Must have been a driver issue between my UR44 and Sonar. Much appreciated!

I would guess that a Windows 10 update hosed your UR44 driver. Steinberg shows them as Windows 10 compatible. If it were me I would reinstall the Steinberg driver and try again versus using ASIO4all. I know a lot of people swear by ASIO4all but usually it's less preferable than the manufacturer's own ASIO drivers where those are available.

Great idea! I will give it a shot. Thank you, sir.
