I've got Synth 1 and I found a bank of presets - where do I put them? I opened Load Preset to find the default location (Libraries > Documents) and I put the unzipped folder in there but I get 'not a valid vst file.'

Thanks - rev

I'm not sure what you mean as normally a "pre set" refers to a list of sounds that someone already programed or saved to the instrument. It is a table of "sounds" found when you open the GUI of any given soft synth ( or a hardware synth for that matter).
The interface that deals with creating the sounds from the actual synth is part of the software ( or hardware) processing. It's not something you can move around or actually see outside the instrument.
So that list if you found it is just text and not "sounds" therefore your message is correct.
You can only get at the pre sets from within the software.

Exactly, as long as the list is in the correct format and location

Oh yes it is. I can create a preset and send it to you, you can load it (if you know where and how) and then use it. In Guitar Rig they are .fxb or .fxp, in Synth 1 they are .sy1, etc. You can absolutely move them around or even create your own default location.

They are sounds that someone has created for this synth, there's a whole web page describing each sound in the bank - I just need to know how to load the bank.

Found it! You have to set the path inside Synth 1, then put the preset files in the specified path. i.e. there is no 'Default Location' you have to create it.
