  • I think I'm going to go for the Adobe subscription thing....

I was just thinking about it today...I mean $50/month for everything....it kind of sucks in a way but on the other hand there's no way I would think about shelling out for the whole creative suite outright. Even though that's $600 a year, there's something palatable about $50/month especially when I consider all the subscriptions I currently have that I could cancel because I don't use them much. Plus since I'm in the process of designing a new site for my business it's going to be tax deductible.

The only trouble is I'm probably going to have to get a Lynda.com subscription as well to learn all of this stuff. I would really like to get back into Illustrator and also learn After Effects, and of course Photoshop and Lightroom are amazing as well. But you also get Audition which is excellent...

Any reason why this is a bad idea?

I suppose it's a matter of perceived value.
If it is worth it to you, go for it.

Yeah but are they open at 1am when I'm usually knee deep in this sort of thing?

The more I think about it, the more it is. I would really like to become proficient in web design, graphic design, photo editing, video editing and freaky special effects.

Lynda.com rocks - and you can usually get a week free trial.

You can login from home. You eneter the library as user name and library card number as password, or something like that. I'll find the link with details.

I like to watch the Lynda stuff in Windows Media Player so I can go through each lesson at double speed.  Unlike other players, it doesn't make the teacher sound like a chipmunk, it just makes them talk faster.
