If I had enough money to be financially stable the rest of my life, I'd retire in a heartbeat!  I'm about to turn 52 and I'd LOVE to be able to retire early.  but I don't see that happening until I'm at least 62.  maybe longer.

I get what you mean Glyn. I'm 55 this year and I know that in 5 years time I'll still feel too young to be retiring...which is good, 'cos there NO chance that's going to happen!

Where is your company incorporated? In the US this mandatory retirement age would probably run afoul of The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).

I am in a very fortunate position compared to many people and will be retiring with a decent pension. I am sure I will adjust, I think the issue is more accepting that I have reached that age.

With the oil price collapse things ar brutal in the industry. In many ways it's a good time to be getting out.

Just a couple of days to go now before I leave, its quite surreal.

Traveling around Dubai and seeing the familiar cityscape and knowing I will be leaving, maybe never to return.

Saying goodbye to friends and colleagues from all the continents except Antarctica. (I probably should have gone and seen the penguins at Ski Dubai to complete the set.) Its going to be a bigger change than just not going to the office.

Never quite made it there. I had a couple weeks in Terra Del Fuego visiting my companies operations on both the Argentine and Chillian side of the border. It was winter and it was cold!
