i bought a license for Jam Origin's MIDI Guitar last night immediately after testing the demo version of the new beta 2.0.  as one who once had a Roland guitar synth (which was clunky and too slow w/latency when using soft synths) & a Sonuus device, the beta 2.0 version of MIDI Guitar test drive for me was awesome.  the only weird thing was if i would stop playing, sometimes the software would generate random sounds (which would stop once i started playing again).  can't wait for this 2.0 to come out of beta so that it has a vst (the beta is standalone only for the time being).  last night was the first time i ever played softsynths on a guitar where i actually had fun

i am using MIDI Guitar 2 beta 8.  is there a way to record the MIDI without having to hear the actual guitar?  no matter what i try, the guitar sound is always there & that can be distracting when all i want to hear is the synth sound.  also, the beta 8 vst is crashing left and right (today is the first time trying out the vst), anyone else getting lots of crashes?

Hi wetdentist
I have never used the Quad Capture, but with the Focusrite interfaces you can just turn down the software fader for the channel the guitar is plugged into. The signal is still routed to Midi Guitar but the unprocessed guitar signal is no longer being sent to the monitor or headphone output. Also what I have been doing lately is to plug the guitar into a direct box and use the pass through to send the guitar to a GT-001 and the output of the direct box is sent to the audio interface, this gives me control over the guitar sound and the mix of processed guitar and Midi Guitar sound. Hope this helps   Dan

hi King Windom, your solution was correct! thanks for that. also, the crashes were not due to MIDI Guitar 2 but rather having Maschine 2.3 in the project.  once i delete Maschine, no more crashing

Guys,

Couple cool things about MidiGuitar.

They took out the manual calibration, but you can still fine tune the response by splicing in a transparent gain control in series before MidiGuitar to tweak the gain.

One of the best is FreeG. Free also as in free...

Chosing the synth wisely, some great responses by putting an arp plug in the chain. Blue Arp only one of the freebies out there.

Played around with MidiGuitar more closely, and it is a revolution in the making. Anticipating what they say will be done with bend and vibrato response.

Thanks for the updates and suggestions. They've come such a long way since I first tried them. Completely surpassing the tracking ability of the Sonuus G2M and my old Casio DG-20. Looking forward to pitch bend being enabled again though.
