Tune reminded me of something but furry head not recalling.

Mix sounds OK here very solid and defined perhaps a little bass heavy but it is a taste thing.

 Nice spacious sound, beautiful timbres, very relaxing melody.

The intro seems a little soft for what comes after; I turned my volume up right at the start, then immediately discovered that the main melody line is mixed quite a bit higher than the intro bass.

There is a bass part of some kind that comes in repeatedly, first at ~0:35, then again immediately at 0:51, that seems to be slamming the meters on its own track, or maybe really highly compressed.

This gives it a sound that to my ears doesn't match the very smooth, cool, beautiful sound of all the rest of the mix. It sounds like a timbre that belongs in a different style of music.

Increasing the attack time on the compressor quite a bit would keep your bass levels up, without over-emphasizing the snap of the attack portion of the envelope.

The repeated-episodic form of the music, simple as it is, is a nice change from the usual instrumental pieces which follow song form--just different enough to catch my attention, not so different that it's strange.

Well, First of all, the shoes and flowers in them aren't something to die for in a video, especially when they just sit there and never move. Maybe you could at least have them dancing to the music. The music kept my attention for a bit but just kept going and going with little change. The production sound of the music was crisp, clean and clear. I'm sure you must have much more in mind for this, what, I have no idea, but sure you know. Its a nice start for something bigger and better. Keep it going and we'll all see where it ends up.

UltimateMusicSnob: Thanks for the feedback, I agree with you on intro being somewhat quiet. as for 0:35 that's just a beat variation, I thought it made things somewhat different, but I guess you did not like that as much.

Wookiee: I am using trilian, and it's very bass bias, I guess I need to adjust some dynamics, next mutation perhaps.

The low bass is a tad hot from my monitors which is probably what Ultimate music snob noted as slamming the meters, which could very well be due to over compression. Not sure but it is a bit distracting from the beauty of the song. Could probably be eq'd easily around 100 hz  and bellow perhaps? 

If you can fix this I believe you've got yourself a really nice tune.

Nice piece.  The low end sounds perfect on my system.  I get a little at about 50hz - not muddy just nice.  Good job.

I was thinking that those clog shoe thingies are about the only thing that lasted more than a couple of hours of dog chewing. It took her nearly a week just to chew a toe off... tough shoes. Cool song. Sounds great.

@Pcode: I thought I was hearing some distortion in my system at first--it's a question of timbre. I checked to see that I wasn't overloading any of the gain stages in my system (I wasn't), and concluded that there was a change in the type of sound here.

There is such a thing as mixing/fusing genres, of course, so if that's the kind of variation you have in mind, then go for it--I would say do it even more, demonstrate clearly that you're introducing a novel beat element, so that I don't misinterpret as a meter-levels issue.

From the first 34 seconds or so, my reading is that this is a kind of laid-back, very cool instrumental.
