Doesn't answer the big question, but basically explains why not:

Someday I'll have to go back and watch the Sopranos...  Never saw a single episode!

I never watched it either, but I used to see James Gandolfini on the corner of Jane and Washington Street in the West Village where he had an apartment. He always seemed to be pacing up and down having an animated, serious sounding conversation on his cellphone with his sleeves rolled up. I had no idea who he was, but I remarked to a friend one day "that guy looks like a mobster." She says "I'm not surprised, it's him off The Sopranos."

A really great show, but perhaps not as jarring today because of its influence and the fact that it has played out.

I saw the whole series but The Lovely Lady did not so we got the box set. Not usually her cuppa but she really enjoyed it.
