Let's be honest here. There's really only one reason to prepare for disaster by building a secure bunker and stocking it with everything required for your survival: More time in the studio.

I mean, what is a bunker but a really well stocked man cave?

Why bother?  If it gets really bad, food, water and such will only make you a target for the angry mobs that did nothing to prepare.  The only worthwhile prep IMO is an isolated destination with the means to quickly get there.

Think about what has happened in just about every densely populated area that has suffered some sort of disaster.

You may have a point
When it gets really bad you need some usefull skills like distilling alcohol.
Alcohol has many applications: recreational, medicinal, hygienic and it burns.
You can make it out of rotten produce and it's a great product to barter.

It's time for me to take a course on moonshining and start practicing.

We only owe $18.1 trillion dollars.... what could possibly go wrong with that scenario?
