Softube has announced the release of its first ever software instrument: Heartbeat, a drum synth based on modeled analog synthesis with a lot of forward thinking features.
Heartbeat is an innovative software drum synth with a familiar, yet unique, sound character. An effects section is included, as well as the innovative Auto Layer Machine which will take your beats to unexpected places.
Summary of features:
  • Eight channels of drum sounds, mostly based on modeled analog synthesis.
  • Mixer with volume, EQ, effect sends and panning for each channel.
  • Four channel Auto Layer Machine for layering sounds or triggering beat patterns.
  • Chaos slider adds randomness to the behavior of Auto Layer Machine.
  • Adapted versions of TSAR-1 Reverb and Valley People Dyna-mite included, as well as Filter Echo and output saturation.
  • No iLok USB dongle required.
Pricing & Availability
Heartbeat is available for $199.00 / €128.00 (excluding sales tax/VAT) from Softube's authorized dealers, as well as from Softube's own Web Store (where the price is circa 10% higher).
Heartbeat is available for Mac OS X and Windows in VST 2 and 3, Audio Units and AAX Native plug-in formats.

2 bills for a software recreation of cheesy 80's drum machines? I hope it has electrolytes.

I don't even know what that means and I still think it's funny.

It's a reference to Idiocracy, a great film in which the world is facing starvation. All the crops are dying because they've substituted a Gatorade-type product for water. But, they say, "it has electrolytes!".

Heck, with the exception of a couple that had actual kit drum samples in them, most of us hated all those drum sounds in the eighties...when they were the latest thing. They don't sound any less tinky and pitiful today...especially when purposefully played out of the groove which seems to be latest trend.

Besides...don't we all already have eleventy jillion sounds like this already??

That's the movie with Luke Wilson. That's a good movie.

Isn't Soylent Green an ingredient in Fruity Pebbles? Larry old chap, are you gonna jump on this? I know you're a little thin on drums.
