Another +1 for no iLock.

I have a Electronics consulting company and have purchased different software packages that cost several thousand dollars each. None of them require a dongle. Is it because they think Professionals are professional and music software companies that require dongles (iLok) think that musicians are low life?

Thank you Cakewalk for not requiring me to use iLok and making me feel professional.

Ditto. I think you'll find a higher than average resistance to hardware dongles here in Cakewalk-land simply because our DAW of choice doesn't use one. Your average Cubase user, OTOH, would probably say "what's the big deal?".

Gotta say, though, that I think EW samples are top-notch, and if they ever did away with iLok there are at least two EW products that would immediately rise to the top of my wishlist. Until then, I'll continue to spend my money on unprotected Kontakt libraries such as those from Orange Tree Samples and Indiginus.

Putting "hate dongle" principal asidse what is next the real gripe with a dongle?

That pace will suddenly go out of business? Maybe that would set back your operation and maybe not. I'm pretty sure you do not need to be online for an ilok to work so if they (iLok site and business) ceased to exist tomorrow I'd still be operational (until my iLok took a dump).

Then, I would think all vendors would simply remove the ilok requirement and implement an new strategy, maybe USB stick like Waves.

But really, who thinks Pace is on the verge of crumbling at this moment in time?

BTW, would I be pi$$ed if my ilok took a dump after Pace went bellyup? Uhhhhh ya. But I trust my vendors will make a speedy recovery.
