Hey Mark. Since everyone agreed with me, I figured I was probably wrong. So, I watched again.

What I got this time was the beautiful simplicity of it all (the event). However devastating and horrible an event like that would be, within the scope of the power of the universe it was sort of like throwing a stone in the lake.. That, and the magnificance of the power of the universe.

That said, that analogy is probably to deep for the masses eating popcorn (maybe) So, on a commercial level I'd probably agree with my original statements. But, then again, being that it is what it is, if it WAS indeed released in theatres it would carry itself very well in that everyone would probably feel quite uncomfortable with the sereneness and beauty of the music while watching the video unfold thence you've delivered the goods....

There. I knew I was wrong. LOL....
There ain't no right or wrong Mark..........

Wow guys, I am very humbled with a lot of the comments on here and thank you all so very much. I will reply to each and every one of you personally in time.

In regards to the mood, I was trying to stay away from the commercial elements that are out there at the moment and was looking for quiet chaos.

The part at the very end where it feels uplifting as the earth is turning was intended that way as a sign of hope for revival, that is until the earth turns showing the actual impact, where hopefully the music changes the mood at that precise time, making you feel that there is no chance of revival.

I have took a lot of the comments on board and am working on an alternate ending version where it is more minor, as well as cleaning up a lot of the mix. As when listening over again, there are some mistakes that need ironing out.

Again, thank you all so much.

Mark.

In light of the comments, I just listened and didn't watch the video. You get such great movement with the orchestra...I should take some lessons from you on that.

That being said, the mix is kinda lifeless. It might take me 30 minutes to get it big wide and dramatic, if you are so interested. PM if you are.

great piece of music Mark, if you were scoring to the video, you might want a change of pace around 2'09, and you'll prob want to invest in a decent brass library to complete the effect, but wow bro, from those humble beginnings a few years ago it's amazing to see the change in your music!

Amazing stuff Mark and it's perfect for the video.

I would'nt even know where to start when it comes to composing something like this, so kudos for the stunning job you've done here.

James: thanks for checking this out. And thank you so much for the offer. I'm in the process of cleaning up a lot of things with this such as the mix and some timing issues. Can i take you up on the offer once I've fixed?

Thank you blipp.

ahhh  ... i wrote about this piece, as a reply to you in my thread .. i didnt notice this thread on it.. ma bad ...
Copied and pasted the reply in here .. cos its where it belongs ...

I love the words you wrote about yourself, in your youtube chanel ... haa .. made me laugh .. briliant ..   That 'impact' footage is quite powerful eh ... as i was watching it .. it kinda reminded me of a strange thought i get when listening to Simon & garfunkels 'El condor pasa' ...  When the song plays, i imagine the irony of looking out the window, and seeing a huge meteor or something come into our sky, careering towards me .. and all i can do is wait motionless as i continue to listen to 'yes i would, if i only could' ... The irony of having to listen to that wee happy song while watching my imminent doom hurl towards me kinda humours me in some sick way ..

Thats exactly the effect i get when watching teh impact, and listening to your happy music ... i wasnt sure if should say that or not, cos i dont want to sound offensive, and i do like it ... But then i see you wrote 'your goal is to create musical ironies' ... If this is what you meant by musical ironies .. then you should know it worked perfectly for me   if not .. then please ignore those last 2 rambling paragraphs   ;)

ETA - the music makes me feel like i should be rolling around in a field of poppies .. while the video shows land turned to spewing lava .. ha ha :D

Without doubt it's a fine composition. Does it fit the images ? I listened the first time without looking at the vid as I was doing something else (see it's not just women that can multi-task) and just enjoyed it for what it was. Having read the other comments which I always do afterwards so that I can listen without the views of others colouring my judgment, I went back and watched the vid too. Having done so, I'm on the fence to be honest. I see what you were going for, but when I listened first time without the images it didn't bring those kind of images to mind. That said, I kind of agree with those that like the meloncholy feel towards the end.

It would be interesting to hear your mix v yoyos as an A/B as I thought you did pretty well, but I'm sure he will manage to sprinkle some magic dust over it somehow.
