Hey Mark -- for an old mix and for only your second song this sounds great.  Your creativity is really shining on this one.  Right around the ~2:40 mark you started throwing in some guitar work that reminded me of one of my favourite late '70's bands -- the Gang of Four.  Definitely cool stuff!!! 

I'm not really a country music fan at the best of times, but this song had an-off kilter flavour to it that made it more interesting for me.

There's a definite Zappa/Beafheart feeling in the vocals and that does appeal to me.

Interesting arrangement that i think sounds sort of "Garage country"  Have i coined a new phrase/genre there? :-)
