Here's one with a lot of dynamics. I often get bored musically. This emerged from that. In a way, it was an insult to my music teacher who said you should never change keys mid chorus... several times per chorus. But I don't like rules and I think do something really creative musically, you've got to break rules. Wild... it has a sort of late sixties sound at times (I am having a hard time pinning it down). Great transitions. I would suggest your music teacher is quite wrong. This is brilliant.

Thanks... well he certainly wasn't "strict" by the rules. He just suggested that there were guidelines to get you to basic songs. And typically they're right, but when you know what standard is, you can learn to deviate in an educated fashion. i wrote a paper for his class on the Key change in the "Birdhouse in your soul" chorus and how the transition defies logic but sounds good. I also argued that given the right set of surrounding phrases one could really make any transition acceptable. I was listening to a lot of Bowie when I first started working on this. And I'm listening to a lot of Bowie when I finished it. Appropriate I suppose. It's short because when I got to the end of writing this, I realized I had nothing else to say, so I stopped. 2:14 is pretty short, but any longer would've just been padding, and I don't go for that.
