No need to route the master to an audio track. Just freeze the synth or bounce it directly to an audio track. In either case the resulting audio will still be routed to the master for playback and eventual export. I'd recommend freezing, as that's the most convenient and it's very easy to un-do if you want to make changes.

If it's important to go through the master bus, perhaps to take advantage of some processing that happens there, you can do that (even though it's neither necessary nor recommended). Just solo the synth and go to "Bounce to Track(s)". Choose "Entire Mix" as the source and a new track as the destination. Even though you selected "Entire Mix", only the synth will be included in the new track because you soloed it.

Unfortunately the problem is in the bounce. The output to the speakers is perfect. When I bounce or freeze the tracks they come out wrong. I tried to bounce and freeze all the ways you suggested to no avail. I like this synth and have several sound banks for it. It would be a shame to have to retire it. Thanks for your help and expertise. (I can't figure out why it works to speakers and not to bounce....very perplexing.)

OK, let's rewind. I still don't have a clear picture of what kind of "mess" you're ending up with. Is the bounce distorted? Automation or effects not applied? Wrong patch? Too loud, too quiet? Dropouts? Clicks or pops?

The bounced track should sound exactly the same as what you hear through the speakers. Internally, the exact same things happen to the data either way. There are no hidden options for bouncing or freezing that might alter the sound.

A drum pattern thats a backbeat will play back in the wave file as just a snare drum out of time. The sound thru the speakers is fine. The wave file is a disaster. I tried changing the app to emulate xp, vista and windows 7 with the same results. Thanks.

The issues was solved by going to edit/preferences/audio/configuration file/ "BounceBufSizeMsec"  set to 0
