I finished this new Christian song about a month ago and made a simple video for it.  I hope it can bring comfort to those soon to leave this life as well as the loved ones they leave behind.

Very nice Jimmy.

Thanks much Ed.  From a technical point of view, any comments on the overall EQ and mix?  It might be a tad too much high-end - can't tell anymore!

Great job Jimmy! The orchestration was done very well. Not too shabby o the vocal either

This was nice. Well done. I would pull some low mids out of the vocal and be sure there's a HPF on them and on their reverb. Maybe a little boost at 3.5K? and a high shelf at say 8 or 9K? Something to make it shimmer a bit more.  And you can move the vocal reverb with an auto panner for a pretty cool effect? http://www.cableguys.de/pan-cake.html (and it's free...)

There are some issues that are making the vox a little muddy. I like the performance? But it's being held back by the mix.  Overall, good job though. And the last "With me?" Consider doing that an octave up to finish the song :-)

Maybe the reverb in the piano is not matching the space of the vocal?

Or maybe just a tad too dry (piano).

Specifically, "With me..." Being a higher "B to a C"

Like this;

Hi Richard - thank you!  This was maybe my second orchestration piece and it is sparse but works with the song.

Robbie - Thanks for the listen and comments.  On the highshelf comment with 8-9K, how much db are  you suggesting?  That will help me hear it in my studio.

Ed - thanks again.  I will check on the piano reverb.  It never occurred to me to look at that but that is just the kind of comments I am looking for with this.  There was only one reverb used in the song so it may be a little dry on the piano.

Robbie - your suggestion on the vocal ending is a good one.  I don't know if my voice would pull that off but I really appreciate the idea.

Thanks again guys.  All good feedback.

little changes? :-) It's just that the vox are currently "muddy?" and they need to be "crisp?" So it's tricky...  And the rule is cut before boost? So on that shelf? I wouldn't go more than 2 db... But I also like to give the vox a little shove at around 3.5K as well (works for me?) But I would put a steep bell in there and sweep it around to find where it needs a cut, because to me? The muddiness seems to be coming from the low mids? But I didn't work on trying to pin point it.

And that recommendation at the end? It's just a tiny bit up :-) Arch your back? Tighten the core? Flex the arms? And have a stab at it! You'd be surprised at what you can do? :-)  (if all else fails, grab your junk?)

Very touching song, Jimmy, and really well done too.  Great job on the vocal.  I agree with Robby that jumping up on that last 'with me' would close the tune out on a real dramatic note, unless that's not what you're after.  Anyway, I enjoyed it very much.
