As always I'm late to the party!

Lynn, this is the first time I hear this song and obviously missed out on the previous versions up to this point.  I really like you vocal.  Nice job.  As far as the Steve Miller comment, I just smiled when "Fly LIke an Eagle" was mentioned.  Um... that's a compliment as far as I'm concerned.  Love the guitar tone too!

I'm listening at work with ear buds so take my comment with a grain of salt but I'd tend to agree on the snare sound.  I'm not sure if I'm a fan.  Otherwise this is a great tune.  Nice job.

James, thanks for giving this a listen and your helpful comment about the snare.  The snare is a stock one from Jamstix, and I added nothing to it.  It's just very ambient on it's own.  However, I had the same thought you did, and I will see if I can replace it with a different snare.  I appreciate your time.

P35, you're never too late to the party.  As stated above, I'm going to search for a less ambient snare today.  Thanks to all the comments from everyone, I'm narrowing this down.  I doubt that I would have arrived at this point on my own.

Hi Lynn

I thought about it and actually one of my songs "Songs in the Night" the guitar is mainly on the left channel.  However, I have a delayed version on the right channel which add more space, but the guitar still sounds coming on the left.  On the solo, I brought the delayed version just a bit, but I have learned that you have to be careful with phase problems. Anyways just a suggestion.

@vechung- the guitar is only in the right channel to balance with the electric piano in the left channel. I thought about panning the solos to the center, but that would leave the right channel empty, so that is where my thinking was in regard to that.

Even though I'm suffering from a head cold right now and I'm not hearing "properly" I liked the tune.

I missed the first two mixes, but I like what I hear on the third (?) one. The snare is slightly roomy, but you may be able to tame it using the Percussion Strip. Vocals sound great.

Dan

Lynn

Today I changed the snare drum to one that is less ambient because of suggestions from several of you, and I like it better.  This song has never sounded as good as it does now, and it is almost 5 years old.  Thanks again, friends!

Vicente, thanks for replying.  I have a number of songs that use the same technique, so I thought I'd change it up with this song.  I mixed it to be more like a live performance than a studio song ( hopefully).  Good to hear from you.
Ed, always a pleasure to get a positive response from you.  You've been so busy that I don't know how you get the time.  Keep up your good work.

Dan, thanks for your kind words.  I changed the snare today and reposted.  I agreed with you and James, and I like it better, now.

Mike, thank you so much.  Keep up the good writing.

sounds good Lynn. I think I liked the 2nd mix (drums) a little better. I liked the loose sound of the snare.
That said, it doesn't make that much difference. Still sounds good overall.

I do keep hearing (in my head) a chain percussion part. Like a big hunk of metal chain played like a shaker on the 1,2,3,4. And, maybe banging on garbage can lids. er, in general, just a bunch of earthy chugga chugga percussion.

Just sayin.

edit. woops. just read your post Lynn.
I take it all back. LOL. No, It really does sound good as is.

Not heard the earlier mixes, though it does sound familiar somehow (posted before?).

Anyway, all sounds good now, clear and well balanced / defined.

Paulo, thanks for your kind words.  I did post this about a year ago, but nowhere nearly as well produced as this version.

To all the rest who have contributed to this mix, my heartfelt thanks go to all of you.  Your suggestions has helped make this the best version of this song yet.  I plan on making this the first song of my compilation, so it was important to get it right.  Even thought the project will technically  remain open, I will be moving on unless someone has any suggestions that will make this even better.  I hope to put up another song from this collection in a few days.  Thanks again to all my co-producers.
