Good song, great hook!

Perfect style to begin your mixing journey. I'd start with the drums, get those balanced with that great bassline, then go from there.

Did I..? Must have been some other body.

This sounds tons better..vocals sound great now.

Drums are clearer but there's not much difference between the kick and the snare, they're both very clicky.

The bass is pretty low now, that could come up.

If you have more than one guitar track I would pan them left and right outside the vocal, or balance the guitar and piano that way, leave some room in the centre for the bass.

Is the organ playing right through the song? I only heard it at the end.

Huge improvement though.

The story of my life. It's all in bins just sitting there collecting dust. Stacked 5 feet high. It's been sitting there so long it easy to understand how the Earth compresses things.

Love the song. It's a fun one!!

Well done!

This piano thing that came on after is really cool! Most excellent!!!

Great song and great progress on it! The biggest challenge when you're the whole band plus engineer plus producer is switching hats such that each component gets equal attention. Guitar players tend to mix guitars too loud. Drummers, the drums. Singers are either overconfident and mix the vocals too hot, or they're lacking in confidence and mix them too low. It's actually really hard to put yourself into each role with equal enthusiasm and still see the big picture.

As for mix suggestions, the balance is good but what I'm missing is width and depth. See what might be moved out of the center, e.g. backing vocals, and play with delays and reverb to add width and move some elements back in the mix. For example, there are some guitar lead lines that could be shifted, perhaps adding an opposite-panned reverb or delay to balance it out.

Came in late so I did not hear any of the first mixes.

Dave (bitflipper) has hit the nail on the head. Also, the bass lacks a little definition. An easy trick to try is adding some chorus and/or light distortion to the bass. I do this in in parallel (i.e. a send clean signal to chorus/distortion bus and blend the clean and fx bus into a final bass bus).

great comments bitflipper and bapu
ill try out those suggestions.
i also think that i need to lower the hi hats as they seem to dominate.

thanks again
