Disconnect it.

If it's somebody from the other side wanting in they don't need ACDC to make it work....process of elimination. ?

It's nothing to worry about.  Just relax.  You're fine.

Unless, of course, you open the door to find the Tall Man from Phantasm yelling, "Boy!"

I just creeped myself out. (shudder)

Thank goodness I have glass on both sides of my door and I can see whats out there without opening it.

Spacey- One theory goes that some of these things draw energy from electrical appliances. I am not saying one way or the other. I will say that one time my wife and I went to Gettysburg Pa. on a ghost tour and she has freshly charged batteries in her camera and they were discharged within two minutes. That has never happened before or since.:)

True story-Disconnected electrical appliances that keep on working after they are unplugged. This is documented. I don't know what I would do if that happened. I'd probably spend the better part of 15 minutes scratching my head in wonderment.

It really does take quite a bit to scare me. UB if that guy comes over I'll tell him to get lost.

Well it hasn't happened for two weeks now. I'm starting to think that it was a mouse who might have moved on.

Since I can't get to the wires for the bell I can't see if it was a mouse. If the wires are chewed and there is no mouse then I will never know what chewed it. Even if I ask it to ring say three times. How will I know it's not just an intelligent mouse? And if it rings only two times when I ask for three it may be a stupid mouse. If I don't ask it to ring and it rings, then It might be a mouse who just decided to ring the bell...or it might be a leprechaun or something. How will I ever know? I have ruled out moles because I don't think they could make it to the bell wire.

Sharke- That is a really creepy dream you had. I have had some memorable dreams myself. I won't go into too much detail here but I dream a lot. I sometimes think I have something going on where I'm between waking and asleep (no drugs or alcohol involved) and I hear things. One time I heard my wife call me clear as a bell and she was fast asleep. I have had my name called numerous times and when I come fully awake there's no one there. But it seems just as real as a person shouting in my ear.I hear noises, but nothing I can't attribute to the house usually. There have been a few unexplained events though. One time I had a voice yell at me in the middle of the night and it was in my head and it sounded like a way over modulated radio frequency. It was saying some really hateful things. It was almost like I had picked up some kind of stray radio transmission. But I didn't have any  radios around me. None of that has happened for a  long time though. If these were dreams then they sure had me fooled for awhile.

I have stuff going on like that too. Just drifting off to sleep then I'll hear someone shouting in my head and it wakes me up with a start. Another thing that happens is that as I'm drifting off, a sudden noise will trigger this blinding flash which wakes me up. It happens most often when my refrigerator turns on, but also something like a clanging in the pipes. It's like getting an electric shock. I'm sure it's somehow related to synesthesia.

Dreams are great if you can learn to control them. There are waking exercises you can do which trigger lucid dreams at night and they really work. They're all based around being aware that you're dreaming. Once you think "hey I'm dreaming" during a dream, it gives you the power to do whatever you want. First few times I did it I woke myself up out of pure excitement.  It's a pretty intense experience.
