I keep seeing it mentioned in threads.  A google search showed me a gamer site ...

that's because it is a gamer site, or more precisely a retailer of games which you download, no CD/DVD.

You can delete any game from your computer and reinstall it later by downloading it again.

I buy most of my games from steam these days.

And Cakewalk stuff is being sold there?

Cool.

There seems to be a serious gamer contingent in the Cake programmer community. There is actually a page on this site dedicated to some cosmic online RPG that I'd never heard of until I stumbled across it by accident while searching for something else (sounded cool but the name is eluding me now).

Fact is us home audio nerds have to really thank the PC gamer community for keeping the ultra high spec desktop components available at reasonable prices. They seem to be the majority of folks dropping enough cash on high end MOBOs and other parts to keep the desktops alive. If it were up to the average Joe Schmoe we'd all be recording on our phones by now.

When I built my system all my research pretty much led me to gaming stuff and if you look at companies like ADK they also build gaming systems (and that's probably where most of their cash comes from).

I think I may have found the page via the Site Map but it looks like it has been removed (kind of of). The game is called Eve Online and if you click on the Site Map...

http://www.cakewalk.com/SiteMap

And scroll down to the bottom you'll see a link "Musician's In Space" which will now lead you to the following defunct page...

http://www.cakewalk.com/Error/Not-Found?aspxerrorpath=/Eve-Online

It used to have some blurbs about the game and Baker's who were playing it.

Steam is what we vent in here when things don't work correctly with SONAR or the forums.

Which is probably why they yanked that online gaming info.

Could you imagine an army of Sonar griefers?
