I have a confession:
I am an idjut. I rebooted at 5:30 this morning, only instead of getting as far as Windows 8.1, my computer launched into automatic memory testing.
With an instant and deep concern, I rebooted, and again it started running memory tests. NOT a good way to start a day that had a bunch of time demands for completing work using the computer today.
Soooooooo, I let the memory testing proceed. 3 hours later, it completed its first set of testing of 32 GB of memory - only to find zero errors.
It was only at that point that I thought it through. Sure enough, what had happened was that late last night - in the wee hours, I had loaded a blank DVD, with an intent of burning a disc of data to give to a friend of mine, but since I was also playing Call of Duty Black Ops 2 on my other TV on my XBOX 360, I completely forgot I had put the disc in. As I was sitting there wondering why the memory test had completed with no errors - I recalled that the blank DVD had never popped up the little window asking me what to do with the disc.
Sure enough - the blank DVD was NOT blank. It had Memtest loaded to auto-boot and run, but I had forgotten long ago to ever label the disc.
DOH!!!!!!
