Hi all, here's a new track from my on-going 'Weirdstone' project. No guests on this, just me to blame for everything

I thought maybe it was an Anagram? But it doesn't appear to be. This was not expected (not the not an Anagram part, but more the music part) I can't really classify this, which bothers me.  It seems like it might go well with a really weird video. It is definitely obtuse, oblique and unique.

Yeah, this was something else It sounds a bit like a soundtrack for something. But then again it's a bit of a tune on it's own as well. It's like a hypbrid soundtrack/concert tune

Not too crazy about the toms. They are ok but sound slightly to perfectly played. Perhaps a little groove quantizing would be doing some good? And the sound of them is a little bright for this. I'd dull them down a bit perhaps or find some less punchy sounds.

But the song is good, I enjoyed the listen and besides the toms, it sounds pretty dern good to me!

Well done!

Thanks Robby..it's a tough one this - these pieces are each based on a chapter of a well-loved book from my childhood, so it's asking a lot to expect listeners to know where I'm coming from. I've considered posting text from the book with each piece but that seems a bit lame. The music has to stand or fall on it's own merits I think.

Hints of a Gabriel soundtrack.

Sounds good here James.

(OK your to blame for everything, makes a change from me being responsible)

James, this all sounds good to me.  I liked the sound of the toms because they cut through the mix without effort.  Without a video or film to go with, it was just the right length.

Thanks Marius! It definitely is intended as a kind of a soundtrack, to a book (if there is such a thing). The toms were 'played' by me on my keyboard in real time, they're from SD2 'hard rock room' kit. I really wanted something that was powerful and strident, a 'tribal' kind of thing. Thanks for listening, and glad you liked the rest of it.

This is really cool! I love the off the beaten path stuff. Definitly a breath of fresh air.

James,

Sounds good.  Stands on it's own but I could definitely hear this in a action movie, like one of the Bourne movies for example.
