Around 1:49 the transition is not too smooth.  Should be an easy fix.  Otherwise awesome guitar sound and such a great voice!

There you go again Bob. Stellar production, playing, singing and song writing.

When will the madness end?

I like everything about this except, as usual, the drums.

The kick sound just is all wrong for this. Too much high end and no variation in velocity. The snare is too busy;the kick disappears during the rolls and on a bunch of the crash strikes the kick is just plain missing.

As for Shad's comment, I will say this: what you do, you do very well. Composition is always well thought out. Vocals are killer, and that guitar is as huge as the Grand Canyon. The bass is supportive of the rest, but really nothing remarkable about it. If you spent some time making the drums sound like a real drummer played them, as opposed to a bunch of common quantitized midi loops, your songs would go to the next level.  Of course, my offer to work with you on the beats is always open!

Hey, Shad,

How's it going, my friend?  Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

I really appreciate you giving this a listen and commenting!

LOL,
To quote that "world famous naval officer and great orator", (also known as Popeye), "I Yam What I Yam!".  But seriously, everything that I write and record is pre-planned with the goal of going on an original album of similar style songs with a consistent, (hopefully very recognizable) overall sound.

Either way, thanks for checking it out, and I'm truly grateful for your input, opinion and support!

Have a good one, buddy!

Hey, Scotty,

It's really great to hear from you, and also sincere thanks for your input and kind words on this song!

EXACTLY!!!  Your Boston example is precisely what I had in mind when I started out trying to learn this DAW stuff and started to work on these recording projects.  After decades of playing a surprisingly wide variety of different genres of rock and metal styles multiple nights a week in my many cover bands, my main goal was to try to define my own consistent signature sound for my CD projects.  After a lot of great input, advice, observations and comments from you, and many good members of this forum, I feel like I'm constantly learning and improving as I go.

Thanks again for all your good input, help and support here on the forum, It's greatly appreciated, buddy!

Have a good one!

Hi, again, Shad,

No, problem, buddy, I understand where you're coming from, and really do appreciate all of your input, observations, and suggestions now, and in the past!

As Scotty mentioned, I also believe that on the forum sometimes genres can get in the way a bit when critiquing songs.  I'm always much more comfortable posting on other people's classic rock, hard rock and metal songs here on the forum, (or even blues, pop, jazz or country) than I am with electronica, rap, dubstep, orchestral, cinematic, etc., due to not listening to some of those genres on a regular basis.  Because I eat, sleep, and breathe hard rock and metal music 24/7, I have a particular frame of reference I can relate to.  But, I still always try to listen and post on the many other types of music posted here, and mention the technical mix details or parts of the performance that stand out to me or that I really enjoy, although it may not be a type of music that I listen to on a daily basis.  During this digital learning journey, I've really gained a new appreciation and great respect for many different types of music that I never thought I would ever listen to, and that's purely do to my participation on this forum, and the wide array of excellent music that the members post.

Anyway, the point is, thanks again for listening to my stuff and offering your honest thoughts and observations, I truly appreciate your input, and everyone else who takes the time to listen and comment.  That's what makes this place such a great asset for anyone trying to learn this stuff and improve their production skills.

Best wishes!
Bob

Hey there Bob.

The guitars sound massive my friend - your unmistakable trademark wall of tone

Loving the pinched (and open) harmonics in the solo, and a bit of whammy abuse to boot!

Your voice sounds as good as ever too Bob.

Keep on rocking!

Hey, Scotty,

Speaking of a power ballad, sorry, I forgot to thank you (and everyone else who listened and commented) on the power ballad under this one on the player, "Broken Angel".  I posted it way back in early December, then got slammed with a ton of crazy stuff around the holidays and didn't get back on the forum for a month and a half.  After reading everybody's comments, I did end up remixing "Broken Angel" and touching up the vocals where you noticed that I was forcing a minor vocal harmony note into the major chords of the piano.

A BIG thank you to your good ears for spotting that, and also to everyone who took time to listen and comment on that post way back when, in December!  I always try to reply to everyone who comments on any of my posts, and usually never leave a thread hanging like that, but 48 hours after posting that song, my "real" life went into a bit of a frenzy and I really couldn't find the time to get back on here for quite a while.

Anyway, thanks again, Scotty, and have a great weekend!

Hi, Eko,

Thank you very much for giving this song a listen, and for your taking time to comment!

Yes, I usually try to just get the vocals to sound like what I'm hearing in my head when the song idea and melody first occur to me.  Although, I do sometimes have to custom tailor them to make them fit the rest of the music once I get the main backing tracks recorded.

Thanks again for your input, I greatly appreciate it.  Best Wishes!
Bob

Hey, Robert,

How's it going, buddy?  Hope you're having a great week!

Thanks a lot for stopping by to check this one out, and also for taking time to listen to "Broken Angel", and your encouraging comments!  Yes, you're right, I thought that one was definitely a lot different for me because I wrote that on the piano as the main instrument, instead of a guitar, plus I usually don't do too many ballads or slower songs.

Many thanks for your input and observations on my stuff, I really appreciate it.  Have a super weekend, buddy!

Hey, Mark,

How are you?  Hope you're doing great!

Thanks so much, Mark, I really appreciate you giving this a listen, and your kind words, especially coming from a great guitar player like you!  I really enjoyed your Hendrix cover with Freddy, that was really some nice stuff!

Thanks again for taking time to check this out and for your input, I'm very grateful that you liked it,  Have a rockin' weekend, Mark!
