Looking at the lineup and pictures from last year I do not think I would fit in. I've wanted to go to the Wannee Festival that The Allman Brothers Band puts on, down at the Suwanee River in N. FL but with my wife being a CPA the timing never seems to work for that one. The festival in Nashville (Bonnaroo) has gotten completely out of hand, IMO. It started out as jam bands and now seems to be completely different. Maybe this festival is trying to fill the void left by the changes in Bonnaroo, they certainly are catering to a younger crowd but I imagine it will change within a few years too.
This one, the Counterpoint Festival has a few acts I'd like to see (I looked every one of them up last night and some sound impressive and they are from every corner of the globe). They seem to have a quite good a lineup of EDM musicians

but I guess I'd enjoy Umphrey's McGee and Widespread Panic (but I've seen Jimmy before with Aquarium Rescue Unit). There are some European groups and another 'roots style' jam band from Athens, GA.. several brass Funk bands out of NOLA that sound like something good, but I just don't know, in all the pictures I don't see ANYONE who looks to be older than 25. I'm sure there are but it still makes me nervous. In their FAQ they say you cannot leave and come back in. They have hotels and shuttles. They have "car camping" but I wonder about car parking. I guess they are figuring on almost everyone who attends, staying either onsite all weekend or in a hotel. I suppose I could pay a shuttle driver or hotel manager and get on a shuttle. It is amazing what you can do with a few bucks. Still... I'm unsettled about it for some reason. I sort of feel like I might be the "odd man out". Like I might get a, "what are you doing here? sort of thing.
If I can get my daughter to come home from Germany I would feel comfortable going with her.

I'm probably over thinking it all. Maybe I should volunteer to work in the "bad trip" tent... if they still have those. I know how to get people grounded again, I've done that enough in the past.

Anyway, if you're in the SE or anywhere and you have not heard about this one and it is 'your thing'... now you have!

Maybe we will go Saturday or Sunday, I don't know. I do know, from looking up all these bands, looking at the crowd, and thinking about it all.. why some of us make good music but it does not seem to have an audience.
Oh well, life is still GOOD. We will be going out there in April for the Atlanta Steeplechase.
I still really would like to go though... any thoughts?

We have been left behind! Lettuce is good, Widespread Panic is Good and Umphrey's McGee is good, not sure about the rest. It looks sort of tribal...

Only if you're "freaking out". (and I'll need a sample of what ever you took... for research of course)

Are all of those bands, or guys with turntables? I'm so far behind I'm about to lap myself. Just the other day I was reading and came across the term turntablist. What the hell  Id love to see what their charts look like.

Some are pretty good funk bands, Umphrey's McGee is a progressive jam band and Widespread Panic is a jam band out of Athens, GA with Jimmy Herring on guitar.
