I just went two whole weeks without a single slice of bacon. Just fish, rice, fresh fruit and vegetables.
I gained 5 pounds. Coincidence?

I think so! you'd better get some back in your diet!

More becan (cooked properly i.e. till most of the fat is cooked out and strained) and far less carbohydrates = weight loss.

My wife and I have less carbs (example; white breads and rice) because they make us feel bloated, although whole wheat is much better. We've also greatly reduce oil based products and have pure butter instead. Too much oil in your diet can damage the eyes, fruit such as Mangoes and berries are great for eye health.  Anyway, both my wife and I have lost a lot of weight. We both see a the same doctor who is also a natural therapist and dietitian. And if possible, its also a good idea to go for a walk about 30 minutes a day after meals, can't walk? You've probably eaten way, way too much Becan

Seriously, due to a certain medications I need to take I was having too many frequent dizzy spells and this was clearly attributed to having too much carbohydrates and not enough protein, fruit and vegetables. So, the good ole Becan n Eggs for breakfast (or brunch) definitely resolved that issue although I don't have Becan n Eggs every day, I prefer variety such as, urrm Eggs and Becan

Good for me: I can go jogging or start training 30 minutes after my meal. Efficient fuel.

Bad for me: I can't. Inefficient fuel.

After I stopped putting junk in my body for a while, it became quite easy to figure out what works best. Though I do allow myself to indulge, as time passes by, I find myself less and less inclined to indulge into certain things.

It's a bit sad in a way - it was one of life's little pleasures to have dinner at Applebee's and eat one of those awesome burgers, but if I consider the idea, the prospect of eating one of those makes me feel as I was about to eat a big jar of Crisco... Your body learns to be disgusted.

Yes, definitely I agree that the body will react to what is best.

I get that. :P

Me, I don't know if it's because I passed 40, but burning fat really isn't easy.

All my life, even though I ate junk, drank phenomenal quantities of beer and wine and smoked 2 packs a day, I barely got the balance to 160 lbs. Being almost 6'3", that made me slender, to say the least.

When I quit smoking for a while in 2012, with the help of a rather unhealthy diet, I started putting on weight for the first time in my life, and passed 180 lbs. in 2013. That's when we got the house, and I could get back to preparing meals and training at home.

Training 5 days a week, doing weight lifting, core training and cardio, I managed to build up muscle and reached 207 lbs last fall, but even though I lost most of the fat I had put on, as hard as I work out, getting rid of the last few pounds of fat does take forever and I'm definitely not as slim as I was 5 or 6 years ago.

It's disappointing at times, because I work out really hard, I'm very disciplined, and I eat really well. But metabolism slows down with age and it's just harder to lose the fat. I try and see things positively - I may not be reaching all the goals I set myself and seeing the exact results I'd want, but I'm also not seeing what would happen if I simply sat back and let go. I can't imagine how it'd be if I weren't putting that much effort in my training - probably pretty bad.

Ha! I didn't anticipate this turning into a serious thread, but OK!

I have struggled with my weight all of my life.  I was "chubby" as a kid.  always picked on in school because of my size.  in high school I lost weight and became pretty normal.  stayed that way for several years (although I really just replaced eating with other vices) until I got married, then I packed the pounds back on and kept going.

currently I weigh just a little under my heaviest weight.  I'll not share that right now.

I've dieted before and always have returned to my heavy self after a while, sometimes heavier than before I started dieting, as was the case this last time.

in 1999 I got down to 185 pounds (I'm 5' 10"), in 2012 I was down to 235.  and again, today I'm heavier than I've ever been (save 10 pounds).

I've recently lost about 10 pounds, but I'm preparing for surgery.  I'm currently on a 3 month qualification plan with a nutritionist and once I've passed that 3 month evaluation plus some other requirements (even a psych eval!), I'll schedule surgery for lap band.
