I get that. :P
Me, I don't know if it's because I passed 40, but burning fat really isn't easy.
All my life, even though I ate junk, drank phenomenal quantities of beer and wine and smoked 2 packs a day, I barely got the balance to 160 lbs. Being almost 6'3", that made me slender, to say the least.
When I quit smoking for a while in 2012, with the help of a rather unhealthy diet, I started putting on weight for the first time in my life, and passed 180 lbs. in 2013. That's when we got the house, and I could get back to preparing meals and training at home.
Training 5 days a week, doing weight lifting, core training and cardio, I managed to build up muscle and reached 207 lbs last fall, but even though I lost most of the fat I had put on, as hard as I work out, getting rid of the last few pounds of fat does take forever and I'm definitely not as slim as I was 5 or 6 years ago.
It's disappointing at times, because I work out really hard, I'm very disciplined, and I eat really well. But metabolism slows down with age and it's just harder to lose the fat. I try and see things positively - I may not be reaching all the goals I set myself and seeing the exact results I'd want, but I'm also not seeing what would happen if I simply sat back and let go. I can't imagine how it'd be if I weren't putting that much effort in my training - probably pretty bad.
