I had a banjo for a couple of months years ago and loved it. I found my chicken pickin fingerstyle guitar technique translated perfectly, and I also found that things I learned on banjo translated well to the guitar. But in the end I decided the thing was just too damn loud. I mean my ears would ring after an hour with that thing. Anyhow, I ended up playing a banjo version of The Ace Of Spades with a few friends which we recorded in their attic on an ancient 4 track. It was as rough as hell and the banjo part was largely a hit and miss improvised affair which worked in some places, not in others. I should post a link to it. Warning, sound quality is pretty terrible and it wasn't mixed or anything like that, but we did have a lot of fun playing it:
