Well, you are hyper critical of everyone, so I'll return the favor. First off, I have to say I was surprised at your song, not what I would have envisioned coming from you (based on your comments of course), so that's a positive. On the negative; after about a minute + I was losing interest, as while an interesting concept, it basically doesn't go anywhere. I would suggest coming up with a bridge, or adding a melody, something to keep the interest up.

I'll put my review in the same way you do:

Your sense of rhythm is fine, but there is nothing else to the song, if you can even call it that. My friends in Nashville would laugh at this track, as unprofessionally dull and poorly mixed as it is...a boring melange of break beats and late 90s scratching.

Thoroughly enjoyed the listen and all the rhythms. Different. Very good.

All that needs to be said can be found written above.

It is noted that you said

Pistolpete

I found a selection that was different than my usual songs that you might like.

Perhaps a sample of your more normal songs would be good for a comparison.

Thanks for sharing.

It Is What It Is ~Robby Robbins

Not my favorite genre. Not sure what the point of it is. But it sure seems like it needs a lot of work to become more interesting and modern sounding.

I'll be back in six years to hear your next installment.

I'm reminded of the time when a work colleague of mine in the 80s discovered I was a musician (well, bass player ) and told me he was singer and guitar player. I asked if I could hear a song of his and the next day he brings in a cued up cassette for me to hear. I'm listening and I'm thinking not only is he a good country singer but the production is top notch like something out of Nashville. He asked me stop the tape after the song. And as I pull out the tape (with a peel off label like they had in the 80s) I notice the other side of the cassette is pre-printed with about six song titles and is headed by <insert some 80s B-level country star name I cannot remember anymore> and I ask him about it. He says "Oh I did not have any more blank tapes so I copied my song onto this cassette."

I'm not accusing pistolpeatmoss of anything like that.

Just thought I mention this funny song related story here.

Well you certainly do like the scratch record sound rhythm thing.

You can dance to it. If I were 23 years old and at the club dancing with a bunch of half naked girls getting drunk I would like the song a real lot.

But since I am 42 years old and my favorite music is Mellencamp , Springsteen, and Bob Segar then I have to say ... Where is the melody and you musicianship skills on an instrument?

Ehhhh.

Keep the faith.

You can do better.

The 90s called. They want their generic corporate hip hop DJ back.

You seem like a smart enough fellow. You can do better than this. Songs need themes and structure. This was an intro/breakdown that went on for way too long and didn't build into anything meaningful. Layering tired, overused cliches does not a song make. The production values are decent but without substance that means nothing. There is no real melody or harmony at play in this whatsoever which even in the chaotic style of hip hop this is modeled after will usually incorporate.

You need a solid bass line to drive the tune and some kind of vocal or instrument track to draw and keep the listener's attention focused. You threw the kitchen sink at this but forgot the plumbing.

Hope this helps.
