Wasn't really expecting the talking drums or the sampler. It's a very percussive offering. 
Not sure how you did all of that actually, but it did show some interesting talent.

He's been here since 07'. That's a long time to be keeping up a charade like that. Anything's possible ... but man, you'd have to be a psycho.

The other thing is, I think there are some folks here that do this for a hobby, but it's more their 'therapy', if you know what I mean. I'd imagine any criticism when you're that close to your music can be very hurtful. That's why I never get too critical.

I don't think this is true. There were instances where comments and responses were made too close to be a regular.  It could be but I don't think so.

 I can certainly not defend Pete's behavior, he was mine and many of the GT users shadow for years here giving constant reminders of our suckage. I don't for a minute believe all of Pete's recent nasty critiques were honest.
I'm sorry if my honest evaluation has offended anyone but after listening again. I guess I still like it. Retro sounding...well so am I, I like retro.  Needs work, that I would agree with but if Rap were intended to be in there, wouldn't you want the rap artist to do his part before it got too busy? That's how I've worked it with the few Christian HH guys I've made some beats for at work. 

I made the pledge several years ago that if PP ever posted a song I would be honest. I don't think acting like a PP in the songs forum would be the right thing for me to do just because he does. I use to really let his behavior affect my mood..I'm not going there anymore. Shad has a great point and I'm going with his idea with some revisions..I've had my weapon drawn for 6 years. I'm tired of this war. I'm giving up and praying for the day the occupation ends or he finally learns to play nice. 
 

Grant, I surely did not intend to besmirch anyone's opinion of this track...just an expression of astonishment at the utter blandness of it getting such praise, especially to a guy who deserved a ton of junk thrown his way. Almost like folks are bending over backwards as a pointed difference to PP's usual slogging.

Anyway - You are indeed correct. I am bending backwards and offering Pete an olive branch, while at the same time attempting to not be vindictive. And that is the key for me, especially where Pete is concerned. Its like this you see:
 
1. I beleive Pete trolls and attacks those he feels slighted by.
2. I believe Pete is laughing at us and that this track is a "f you", post.
3. I believe this track is either blatanly ripped off, or as you said, something he or anyody could throw together with zero effort.
4. I believe that there was no attempt at mixing, there was no attempt at arrangmement, it was mostly pregen preset midi arps.
5. I hope that I am wrong. I will gratefully accept being wrong

But, if I am wrong, I want to show that I am prepared to take the high road, and am prepared to forgive (I never forget). Needlessly ripping on his song, just because he is an arse, makes me the fool, not him.

soens: So sorry, not meant for you if that is your profession, nor is it meant for EVERY reviewer. Just speaking from experience being in the semi-big leagues. It's amazing how some of these reviewers bash the heck out of people. What really sucks is, some of them are very credible and have more impact on the sales of an artist. They know this and often times hope for failure over pushing good music to people with a fair review. You come to find out they were once musicians that either weren't good enough, gave it up to get married and are unhappy, needed to find a job and regretted things, the list goes on and on.
 
It's like...when you release an album, you may get 100 good reviews and 5 bad reviews. 4 out of the 5 aren't really said in a hurtful manner, but you can tell the person didn't like your stuff. You accept it...it's part of the business. Now this 5th review, they bash you so bad and compare you to bands you supposedly sound like, yet you sound absolutely nothing like these bands and they further pummel you into the ground to where you question if they really did listen to your album. I just don't think anyone needs to go that far. And whats really bad there, when they are totally off the mark like that, it makes the 100 great reviews you got seem obsolete.
 
Grant: same for me man like James said...I didn't mean to make it sound like I was bashing anyone's opinion. I just had a REALLY hard time understanding how all the compliments came in here when a piece was posted that wasn't close to being better than the people this dude has verbally annihilated. I've seen some nit-picking from some of the people in this thread to others where at times, they have been a little harsh with their word usage...yet, in this situation....they found this such a beautiful thing when in reality, most people wouldn't even consider it a "song".
 
It's pretty apparent to me the dude is using the forum for a source of entertainment and just having a laugh. At this point, I really don't care if he's real or not, nor will I be listening to his songs in the future. We've given him enough attention already in my opinion. Even if he did post something incredible, would any of us really believe it? I sure wouldn't. Even if he did and proved it...he'd get no respect from me due to his treatment of others. It's like Yngwie Malmsteen...eventhough I think he's a great guitarist, his tude is so bad I can't stomach anything from him anymore and could care less about him. I just hope pete stays away from me and my posts...as after this one, I will do the same and never bring him up again.

I would like to thank everyone for listening and providing feedback. I appreciate all feedback both positive and negative. In the music biz, you absolutely have to have a thick skin , but also you have to listen to the negative criticism and use it as a tool to improve.

To answer some questions ...
The scratching sounds came from sample loops that were included with a past version of Cakewalk. I don't remember which version.

 No. This was in response to many requests to hear some of my work. It's been six years, I figured why not.

No, this is definitely original. I am flattered though that some would think it's not. I am also 100% original and not anyone pretending to be someone else.

No, there are no pregen preset midi arps. However there are well over 100 different drum loops incorporated. The song was intended for club play where the audience isn't really concerned with musical structure, modes, tonality, theme and variation. So it didn't require much arrangement. We're not talking about Dark Side of the Moon here either, so the mix wasn't really a big concern.

5. I hope that I am wrong. I will gratefully accept being wrong
