On this track "Oyster" I used ALOT of the sample loops that come with SONAR.  I got some from the Beatscape Library, some from the Sample Magic loops & some from the XMix included loops.  This is the first song I have ever made where I didn't play any instruments. It was all retuning the groove clip samples so they would sound good together, mashing together several drum loops for the percussion & then adding effects like Sonitus Delay and other on the loops to further make it unique and my own.  I feel a little weird not having actually "played" any notes but the piece is unique and I put alot of production time into it and I consider it my creation (with the help of SONAR WHICH IS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!)

Nice one Shawn. There are a few purists that would hate this, being as it's all loops, but it got my foot tapping and that's good enough for me.

james might be talking about me :)

it has some great hooks in it like most of your stuff does.
the breakdown in the middle is a nice breath of fresh air.(i made a comment on soundcloud, the part im talkng about)

i think where this song would really fit well shawn would be in film.
its got a great fell for being an intro to a television show or possibly in a movie as a film score.
your a great artist man.always like your stuff.

no hard feelings i hope.

I tried doing this once but got nowhere.  I applaud you for your vision and technical skills.  And, you're right - Sonar is totally awesome.  Well done.

Thanks for posting this, Shawn, and your positive thread upstairs.

I finally got to listen to it, and really enjoyed it.

I'm like you, and tend to play everything, but I do keep wanting to have a go at manipulating loops.  You did it very well.

It's the fact that one can track a full band, or play with loops, that really attracts me to Sonar.

I used to play around a lot with sampled loops when I got my first sampler many moons ago, an Ensoniq Mirage, and then with Akai samplers.  I used to  love manipulating them, even though I only had a two digit LED display, and two seconds of sampling.

The only comment I would make about it is that I would maybe drop off the "string-like" sound that pulses through it every so often, just to add variety.

Thanks again for posting this up.  I think Sonar is "awesome" too.

Nice effort! I try putting stuff together with loops sometimes but it always screams "LOOPS!" This however sounds like an original creation. Must have been a lot of work...

Plus, in your avatar you look a little like my old friend Ferank Manseed from the UK, he's a tattoo artist who specializes in geometric patterns made with dots. And in the photo on your website, you look a little like Ross Kemp, a British actor. Just thought I'd mention this totally irrelevant info

I'm not usually into tracks made by smples only, but this has a toe tapping vibe and kept my interest.
