Im not a musician.
Listening to some of the stuff you guys post in this forum is soo fantastic, that i feel completely intimidated and almost didnt post this, cos in contrast, it sounds plastic and childlike ... Its my 3rd attempt at something

I did listen to a few .. in the hope i could find someone at the same level as me .. maybe theyre all too intimidated also   :D

That said .. I do love ma wee tune anyway .. cos am biased .. and i spent a while piecing it together .. so may as well let a few other pair of ears endure it ... 

Am not sure if i should apologise in advance  .. :D

Brian, the best way to describe this is to take your own evaluation at face value.  That being said, the fact that you posted this and don't have an inflated opinion of yourself gives me hope.  If you're willing to learn, take advice, and be patient, you'll do well here.  Let this be the start of something bigger, and expand on this theme.  Keep writing as much as possible, and you will grow.  If music ever becomes an obsession with you, you'll be surprised at how fast you develop.  Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I came here initially to see if anyone liked my wee tune .. See if im inspired to do more or not .. Cos the people in my life arent this way inclined .. id be wasting my time, and asking to be mocked .. But since coming here to this forum, i realise, its an excellent resource for finding new music ... Seriously .. some of the stuff on this site is excellent ... I echo all the responses above by a great bunch of guys that really know what they are doing.  Lynn, Bapu, and Wookiee have been around a long time. 

Cast out your fears and let it rip.  The worst that can happen is what you thought was good may not hit others the same way.  The best that can happen is you learn and grow in your skills and creativity. 

When you have a forum like this with very talented people willing to give you pointers, critism, and encouragement, you just can't go wrong if you keep an open mind.  Lynn said that very well.

Well, I like it. There is nothing to be embarrassed about at all. This was fun, progressive and... kind of cool. It made me feel good listening to it. You got nothing to worry about. Keep playing from the heart and it will all fall into place. Do not worry about any of us here. There are like two of us that are any good and the rest are just like you (including me): doing it cuz we love it.

Apart from me and yourself, my sister is the only other person that said she liked it .. and shes hardly likely to say its rubbish :D The feedback you gave me foxwolfen is inspiring .. Thanks .. My heart was through the floor prior to this cos my mates just laughed at me when i asked their opinion, and I felt like i was just playing silly games with myself and should leave it to real musicians like you guys .. I stopped asking them for their opinions ... i was rather disappointed and posting it here was kinda the last chance ... like the deciding factor for me as to whether i should bother doing more I know i had fun making it of course .. It sounds like music is in your heart so that's step one out of the way. This is nice but needs a melody. This could be something better with a vocal line? Even Led Zepplin had really simple songs that were some of their biggest hits.

Brian, friends and family are the last people I go to now to show my work too. I too have been vastly disappointed by my friend's and family' lack of support. So much so that many of my old friendships have cooled. If they are not also already creative, then it seems they cannot understand what it is we are doing and why. Creativity seems to scare them. Do not let others stop you from following your heart. It does not matter what others think. Vincent Van Gogh was completely dismissed in his time. He died thinking he was a failure. Today he is considered among the top artists of all time (if not the top).
