I don't know if other people go about it this way, but when making my own beats, I try to use the sound on sound recording mode to make a snare/kick pattern, then go back over it with a hi-hat, drum machine style. That works dandy.
But then when I try to copy and paste them, so that I have a repeating drum beat, I can't seem to select both clips as they are directly on top of one another. The Bounce Clips option doesn't seem to work as described in the documentation.
I guess what I'm asking is, how to select multiple clips that are on top of each other? OR, how do others go about it?

What you want to do should work as you've described it.  With track lanes hidden, if you lasso select across the clips from right-to-left they should all be selected.   None of the clips are locked in any way?   What if you expand track lanes first, and then lasso select - can you see the clips selected, and if so, is it the selection process or the copy > paste command that doesn't seem to be doing what it should?

With unlimited tracks available, this is a situation where I take advantage of this. Adjacent tracks cannot "overlap" so you can lasso around them fairly easily with the proper zoom level. The other reason for separate tracks is where the clips change/fade/fill, it is hard to keep track of clip type if they are all in the same track. Visually it is much quicker to identify a fill/gap when that data is the only present on the track.

Perhaps selecting the entire track by clicking the track number instead of trying to select all the clips, then doing Bounce To Clips and then copy/paste will work?
