Enduring image, isn't it....

....1970's? Joe Jordan? Gap in his teeth? Leeds Utd?

Mantle with aplomb? Gary Lineker..nice man, nice face, hint of grey at the temples...

My problem with the 70's is that every British tv personality from those days is now serving time :)

Rolf ......my whole childhood was a lie!

Funny story about Jimmy Savile, speaking of celebrity diddlers. A long time friend of mine and his wife were good friends with him for a few years, she being a reporter for the local paper where he lived. Both were present at his funeral. They had no idea about his unsavory past - I mean there were always rumors but you can't convict someone on those can you? Anyway a few years ago she was commissioned to write his official biography, and she put months and months of work into it - a glowing account of his life and charity work. The pedophilia scandal broke about a month after it was published. Talk about bad luck...she has a sense of humor about it now though (not the diddling obviously, but her bad timing).

Sounds like a CoC violation to me!

I was at secondary school through the 70s. Started going to gigs in 1977.

First one was Thin Lizzy as it happens, then Clapton supported by Ronnie Lane. Back then Clapton was doing the 1,000 seater circuit, and in just over two years I spent three evenings standing 10 feet from Clapton watching him play. Muddy Waters was on one of those gigs as well. Would love to be able to go back and see those gigs again, only knowing what I've learned since.

Would love to see Ronnie Lane again as well, as a 16 year old I wasn't really aware just how good he was.

Status Quo? First saw them last year. Frankly they were dreadful. Not a loss though because we were really there for Wilko Johnson's support set, as were quite a lot of other people going by the number who walked out after Wilko finished. A classic case of the headliner being demolished by the support in my (not so) humble prejudiced opinion.

Did she not watch the Lous Theroux programme, the guy was clearly a not job. He was one I was not surprised about, there have been all sorts of rumours about him being dodgy going back years.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I quite liked him in the Theroux programme, to me he came across as quirky and affable, although he clearly had issues with his mother (keeping his mother's clothes was a bit creepy). People love to spread rumors about people they perceive as different because it tickles everyone's "I knew it!" bone. So it's hard to tell what's true and what's not.

Although Rolf Harris. I was totally blown away by that one! Hmm perhaps I should rephrase that....
