I was at secondary school through the 70s. Started going to gigs in 1977.
First one was Thin Lizzy as it happens, then Clapton supported by Ronnie Lane. Back then Clapton was doing the 1,000 seater circuit, and in just over two years I spent three evenings standing 10 feet from Clapton watching him play. Muddy Waters was on one of those gigs as well. Would love to be able to go back and see those gigs again, only knowing what I've learned since.
Would love to see Ronnie Lane again as well, as a 16 year old I wasn't really aware just how good he was.
Status Quo? First saw them last year. Frankly they were dreadful. Not a loss though because we were really there for Wilko Johnson's support set, as were quite a lot of other people going by the number who walked out after Wilko finished. A classic case of the headliner being demolished by the support in my (not so) humble prejudiced opinion.
