Saville was stripped of his knighthood soon after the revelations emerged.

Are you sure on that, I thought they were not able. He wasn't tried, it was allegations. Nothing on Wiki (I knw that's not black and white) but it's generally a good indicator, and still lists him as an OBE

And to think I wrote into Jim'll Fix It asking to drive a hovercraft.

I was always slightly amused by the way newsreaders here referred to him....
 
When the allegations first surfaced they were made against Sir Jimmy Savile.
 
As more surfaced, they were made against Jimmy Savile.
 
As the bandwagon continued to roll they became against Mr Savile.
 
These days they're just made against Savile.
 
FWIW I believe that he couldn't be "stripped" of his knighthood because it is a title that only applies while alive, so it was already effectively removed by his death.

I bet Gary Glitter regrets not asking Jim to fix it instead of taking his computer to PC World.
