Although I find this guy pretty annoying I thought this video was pretty interesting on horrible drugs.

I've taken a few horrible drugs...

1 > Castor Oil
2 > umm if I think of another horrible drug I will edit.
3 > OK... PCP.

Oh... it turns out that the "brown acid" at Woodstock wasn't "bad", just a little strong. Wavy Gravy said he was glad about it because they ended up with a basket full of it and it kept them high for a long time at the Hog Farm.

I don't think there are so much "horrible drugs" as there are "horrible people" who take the drugs. There was a time when the general attitude was "what is mine is yours", these days the attitude seems to be more "what is yours is mine". There is a decided lack of empathy today. A very subjective topic... will watch the video now.

YIKES... I knew about "Research Chemicals" but also know better than to try them. The first one, Datura, grows pretty much all over but is, I would agree... a horrible idea to try. Owsley made some DOM. They called it STP and at first the dosage was WAY too high and people were tripping for 3 days. They lowered the dose and it got better but never caught hold.. none for me thank you. DMT is interesting to read about but I have no interest in going from zero to a million MPH in a few seconds. The other stuff he talks about is just really, truly horrible. Agreed!
DMT however... is in a LOT of things including you and me. The pineal gland usually makes serotonin when there is light and melatonin when it is dark BUT at birth, death, and "near death" experiences it produces a flush of DMT. Some think that a malfunctioning pineal causes schizophrenia, with it's paranoia and hallucinations.
The JWH analogs they sold a few years ago as Sp1ce etc were pretty horrible too. It is a chemical that is an agonist to the same receptors as THC but while THC is a partial agonist, the JWH chemicals are 100%.. people were smoking a joint and OD'ing.
IT is al a result of the war on drugs. The war on drugs does not work. It does not stop anyone who wants to get high and the availability of drugs does not cause anyone who does not want to do drugs to do them. Society just ends up with horrible drugs instead of tested and less harmful drugs... it is insane.
The CIA spent the better part of a decade trying to see if they could weaponize LSD in their MK-Ultra program. They always wanted to test it on a large population and set up observers in the Haight-Ashbury district in the 60s.
The war of drugs has caused more problems than drug abuse ever did or ever will... IMO.

It's just Darwin being proven right again and again. Breeding out the gullibility gene, one know-it-all teen at a time.

But also encouraging the luck gene, I suppose. I myself have survived a heroin overdose. At least it had the benefit of putting me off smack from then on. If only I'd had such a reaction the first time I ever thought "maybe a donut and coffee is a reasonable substitute for breakfast".

Never did drugs other than what a Dr prescribed and usually only when in the hospital.

I had friends die from overdoses or (as stated above) turned into horrible people because of drugs or alcoholism. They taught me the lesson.

Having grown up with an alcoholic father I pretty much steered away from that too.

This is interesting to me, the pictures say it all.

Molecules...

Psilocin is what psilocybin is metabolized into in the body.

Interesting, at least it is to me. Small changes, big differences. I've always liked chemistry.

Next door neighbour started smoking pot outside, in between our houses a few months ago. I first noticed that skunky smell in our garage. I didn't think much of it, as it was barely noticeable - I thought maybe it came from a bunch of empty beer bottles.

But then it came back on a daily basis. I'd be outside, on the other side of the house, reading and that stinky smell would interrupt me. And I hate the smell of pot. Soon enough, what was an isolated, occasional incident became regular, everyday, all through the afternoon.

We eventually got tired of it and confronted him. He said he'd been under a lot of pressure, apologized and said he'd find another place. So he started smoking in his garage - which changes nothing because his garage door is always half-open and our houses/garages are maybe 15 ft from another.

Result - I can't spend an hour outside w/o having to put up with that frickin' smell and our garage constantly smell pot.

One odd thing I've noticed in all my years is that, quite often, people who are already pretty relaxed tend to love pot, while people who'd probably need to mellow out a bit will opt for coke and speed...
