Here is a new Christian Acoustic Rock song that I have been working on.  I was tracking a couple of faster paced songs and got stuck on some of the lyrics, when this one just kind of fell into place.  I had the basic chord pattern around for a while and things finally just seemed to come together.

Let me know if everything sounds mixed correctly.  I am toying with the idea of adding a few more layers to this song, but I am not sure if it really needs it.  I've been in a minimalist phase lately.   Anyway, I hope you like it.

Mike, thanks for the PM.  This song is really solid and shows a lot of growth despite it's simplicity.  Your acoustic and vocal sounded very present and rounded.  That makes for a good use of dynamics.  You voice has more ethos than ever before.  BTW, I listened to the second song and enjoyed it, too.  It's good to see that you've been busy; I'm kind of at a winter's lull at the moment.  Keep up the good work.

Yep, the winter lull....been there.

Thanks for the listen, Lynn.  If I passed your pitch sensative ears, then I must be on the right track.  Did you listen to the Cloud site?  I have just been getting that site started and I have been loading some songs that I have previously, but recently done.

I have n't figured out a way to reorganize the order of the songs.  Because of that, I have ended up with some of my newer material on the bottom of the page.

The mix is kinda cool and retro, but man that ride cymbal is overpowering.

You don't like my ride cymbal!  I noticed that it was a little loud as well.  Then it started to grow on me.  I probably need to pull the fader down some though.

Hope that snow clears up in the next couple of weeks.  I'm headed down to Javits for a couple days.

to me the ride's volume is ok... I do think some gain randomazation would help... so would some vocal pitch correction...
I like the song arrangement and lyrics...  good work...

Easy to listen to.  I am not sure about the ride, it doesn't bother me on the headphones.  That's usually where cymbals attack me.  Pretty song.  We all need a bit o' brand new!

Notnat,

Thank for listening.  I tried doing a little randomization on the ride cymbals on the version you listened too.  It was the first time that I have ever gone in an manually adjusted velocity hits on each note, so I am not very experienced with it yet.  I could play with velocities a little more in future versions.

Pitch correction, I Melodynned a few spots on the original version as well.  The only place that I am still hearing it, maybe, a little off is in the opening verses.  It is going to have to be one of those manual ear adjustments though, cause everything lines up perfectly on note/ blob right now.

Evadianepug,

Thanks for the kind words.  On phones is the only place it seemed a little loud to me.  On the monitors, car and stereo sources, the level seemed fine.

I did a little stereo spread work on the song last night, at the suggestion of Danny and I think it is actually sounding a little better.  I have posted a new version.

yeah, I have to correct manually with Melodyne...
that's really the only way I'm ever satisfied with the correction...
it's labor intensive, but effective...

I like the song. The ride seems out of place or needs to be fit in it's proper place better. Great vocals and the acoustic sounds awesome!

Excellent!
