Is it safe to upgrade Omni 1 to Omni 2? I have the upgrade, but I thought I saw some having issues with 2, so it isn't installed as of yet.

upgrade, it's fine.
 
there are have been 2 patches released in 20 days.  Spectrasonics is on top of it and really trying to make sure any problems that do show up are squashed pretty quickly.

In my case just auditioning samples in Omni 2 causes the audio engine in Sonar to drop out. I haven't tried troubleshooting yet but strangely enough it works perfectly in MixCraft 7 Pro Studio? That said I have not downloaded the latest update.

I had the same problem, the latest update has fixed it.
