Who on earth thought this was a good idea
Now the forum software has the capability for usernames to be changed, only a Cakewalk member of staff should be able to perform this action.
Anyone wishing to modify their moniker should have to contact Cake and give a good reason for dragging them away from more important tasks. Obviously it's a boon for those who inadvertently joined using their email for example to be able to use another name, but that's the only sort of criteria that should be acceptable.
Changing one's username on a whim, for 'a larf' as it were, is really scraping the bottom of the humour barrel. And doing it to impersonate another forum member is a violation of the Code Of Conduct:
Impersonating Other Users, Accessing Another User's Account, Holding Multiple UsernamesYour privacy is important to us. Anyone impersonating another member, attempting to access someone else’s account, or creating multiple accounts for the purpose of stalking, trolling, harassing or spamming will be banned. Also, Cakewalk strongly discourages having multiple user names.
