I posted about this in the techniques forum because I used v-vocal to turn a copy of a tenor sax part into a barri sax part. I thought I would share it here as well.

The mix is still very rough and when I listened to the soundclick link it sounds like something weird happened to it. It may just be my laptop.

I still want to replace the trumpet and trombone with something else and add some organ etc but that will have to wait for another day.

Anyway here you go ( Old Mix removed)

Edit: I have updated the song and loaded a new mix in my main account on soundclick Funky Blvd new mix I left the old mix up for comparison.

I purchased session horns and replaced the existing trumpets with it and they sound much better I think.

The trombone is still the Dim Pro sample.

Added a Piano and 2 organ parts.

I started getting serious about the mix and have added a lot of automation to give it more punch as well as making changes to the FX overall.

Any mix advise will be greatly appreaciated.

I hope you enjoy!

Edit:
I Worked on some slap style bass. It took a few days and some blisters but here is the result.

I also made a few adjustments tothe mix as well.

Any Mix suggestions welcome.

I like this because in high school I was in a big horn band that did Motown and Stax music such as Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave, Otis Redding, etc.  This takes me back.  The horns are funky and well arranged.  This is an ode to an era, and I say nice job.

This made me think of "Blood sweat and tears" in both the music and the vocas. Also got a slight Zappa vibe from it at times.

The mix sounds like it need mastering to give it some punch, but sounding good so far.

Nice and funky.

Nice one.

Fonky... Luv it... Killer track Tom... I've used Melodyne in a simlar way for a barri sax sound..  but not by changing the pitch, as much as adjusting the formants... I love your horn arrangement... great vocal performance too...
