Does anyone know if all the ST2 libraries and synths work in ST3 SE? (I know they work in the full version of ST3, but not sure about SE). I only have ST2 and all its dust collecting libraries.

I believe it does import samples and legacy libraries

That's good to know.....and the pricing is much less just to get that 64 bit engine.

The new Custom Shop stalls on my PC and says "network time out - try again?"
when I say yes, the Custom Shop gets a black blank screen and stays there...

Restarting the CS does the same....can't even use Custom Shop now....
I even uninstalled and reinstalled....something is wrong here IK....

This was not my experience, the new CS works great here.  I would report your issue to Tech Support at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support/mi/ if you are still experiencing this issue and they'll be able to sort it out for you.

Thanks for the confirmation, I appreciate it. Are there any downsides in using ST3SE with my older ST2 synths/libraries?  (I'd hate to buy it and then find some compatibility or other restriction in using the legacy products).
Thanks!!!

I've had a different experience trying to move to this update.

1. download of the two pieces was smooth and fast.  Hooray!
2. clicked on the installer for the Sound Library Update 3.5.  Install went smoothly, then errored out with this message: "unable to copy Bass Clarinet Stacc Short.st3i"
3. wondered if everything else installed, went to the Install SampleTank installer for 3.5.  It says right away, first install Sound Library update 3.5
4. okay, so maybe my install wasn't ideal, or the unzip.  Repeated the process of downloading.  Exactly the same error: "unable to copy Bass Clarinet Stacc Short.st3i"

Bummer.

When I got up this morning, the library files' download had completed, but the zip file was corrupt so I was unable to install them. I don't think I'll bother with a retry, given that the new instruments are not likely to be of interest to me anyway.

dub, I was able to navigate the instrument browser using only the keyboard (right-arrow to expand a category, left-arrow to collapse it, Enter or right-arrow to load an instrument), if that's what you mean. I could not figure out keypresses for paging through the browser (PgUp, PgDn do nothing), switching views, playing the virtual keyboard or adjusting any parameters.

Mesh, my motivation for buying ST3 was twofold: 1) ST2 was a favorite that no longer worked in my new 64-bit DAW, and 2) I was hoping ST3's long gestation meant either more or drastically better-sounding instruments.

I was satisfied on point 1, as it did import all my favorite ST2 libraries (I'm not sure all of them sound exactly the same, though). Point 2 was something of a disappointment, as sound quality varies from poor to mediocre to very good, and there aren't many instruments I didn't already have.

Bottom line is I spent hundreds of dollars to keep on using ST2 and Miroslav, plus picking up a handful of useful instruments. Those additions to my sound palette were enough to justify the expense, but just barely. I don't regret the purchase.

I installed the ST update first then the Sound Library update. Didn't have any issues and when I started 3.5 it spent several minutes rebuilding the DB. After that, Things seem to be working ok.

I did go to the Custom Shop to see what was available but didn't see anything that I wanted. Hopefully the future will bring more things that are my cup of tea.
