Hi all,
To address a couple of the consistent themes a bit ....
I am aware of parallels between microcosms and the greater population, but I don't tie my thinking to correlations so much. I feel that smaller social entities take on idiosyncrasies that do not mimic the whole, at times. I am a member of fora for ProTools and two other DAWs, and they are nothing like the forum in which I originally posted this. There seem to be very quirky things going on. I would say that each of us can decide whether a little spot like this is a good place to chat without contriving an imperative to "deal with it" based on social analogy. In other words, folks should face up to courtesy, kindness and community here because it ISN'T the back alley of an urban jungle.
For those who asked, I am a music instructor, specializing in composition and arrangement. We use ProTools in the class and studio, but most of the students can't or don't choose to afford such and the related hardware, so they use what they choose and I hear about it. I use Sonar 8.5.3 so far, about 1/3 of the time that I am doing personal projects.
I got a dry private message from one of the moderators here, Brandon, yesterday, questioning my address and such via, I'm assuming, his ability to see my IP address when I post. I spend about 1/3 of my time in America (Ohio), and indeed one of the reasons that I wrote this post was related to my experiences in bouncing between my homes. Having my whereabouts/origins questioned was just another brick in that pile, if you know what I mean. Next month I can post from Sweden or one of the other countries in which I travel and work and then the diligent moderators can get back to Sonar questions and technical support -- or at least addressing the content of a post instead of policing the messenger.
I WILL post here more, for those of you who have seen that as prudent and worthwhile.
